The Milner Library at Illinois State University has a collection of Circus Memorabilia, including a nice digital archive. I’ve selected a couple of images that show jeeps Numbers 3, 4, and 5 from the Ringling Barnum Circus.
As you can see below, No 3 is working hard holding up Carmen Barrigon, while No. 4 lazily watches.

Meanwhile, No. 5 is doing all the heavily lifting. The photographer, Sverre O. Braathen, calls this a Ford Jeep, but it looks like a CJ-3A the way the bumper is bolted onto the frame, though it also has a CJ-2A windshield. The rear PTO is raising the platforms for seating. My circus book has a good shot of the PTO setup from the rear, but I haven’t had a chance to scan that.

Dave shared this image of a Pepsi Surrey. This is a little clearer than a similar picture shown on the CJ-3B page.
Dave has been restoring a MT-Tug and is looking for the following:
1. The origin of the vehicle and any of its history if known.
2. An original transfer case
3. An original steering column
4. Any other parts someone might have.
He has Mark Askew’s books, these links http://www.smcars.net/forums/jeep/32621-willys-mt-tug-6×6-1941-a.html, and information from Fred Smith. Anyone know of other information source regarding this vehicle?
Glenn spotted a brochure for this Jeep-like vehicle. There some great PTO shots, too. You can learn more about them at Wikipedia.
Glenn spotted this unusual brochure. This brochure describes the Lightening Six Motor being used as a boat motor.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
This is unrestored and the engine has been rebuilt.
“For your consideration, a very nice “barn find” 44’ Willys MB Jeep.. Serial #325384. This jeep is in very nice original condition, and has never been restored. Looks like it was painted green a few times with a brush.
Frame is in almost perfect condition, with no major rust issues whatsoever. It appears to still have the original front bumper and gussets.
The body shows its age with small dings and dents, but no major damage. The front floors are the only area of concern on the vehicle, as they have been covered with tin. Inspection underneath reveals only minor rusting on the drivers side, and hat channel rusting on the passenger’s side. There is lots of structurally sound metal left for repairs. Overall, the body is very restorable, and possesses a lot of character. Hood, fenders, and windshield are in good condition with no major rust thru. Seat cushions are replacement units, but mount exactly as the originals. Frames are in nice shape.
The drivetrain on this Jeep is in great condition. Engine was completely rebuilt (have receipts) about 200 miles ago to the tune of $2900. Engine appears to be original to the jeep with serial #MB-369110. 6v system is intact, and functional. T84 Transmission and axles are the original units gone thru and in good condition.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $12,000.
This looks great. Too bad it has a later motor.
“1946 Willys Jeep CJ2, chevy II 4 cylinder motor. This model is the first civilian jeep made. Runs and drives great, comes with soft top. Some minor surface rust in a few places. Low miles. Asking $12,000 OBO. Serious inquiries only please respond with a first name and contact number to call.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
This is a good looking truck!
“Selling my 1957 Jeep Willys Flatbed Truck that was restored a couple years ago. The truck has been kept in the garage and is in almost mint condition. These are extremely rare trucks and finding one in this shape now days is almost impossible. The truck has only 48,000 original miles and was used to hall hay on a farm in the beginning. It has the 6 cylinder Super Hurricane engine which gives it a little more torque and power then the 4 cylinders. This truck has only been used since restored in car shows and parades. Everything has been kept original with a few cleaner interior updates. The truck run’s like brand new and the 4×4 works perfect. It has always been well taken care of and adult owned/driven. Please let me know if there are anymore pictures you would like to see or might have any questions at all. ”
