Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Bob has a M-38 with the original 24 volt system that isn’t running. He lives in Chicago and is having a difficult time finding anyone who knows about jeeps and can handle a 24 volt system. Does anyone know of a mechanic in the Chicago area? Comment below and I’ll make sure Bob gets the information.

“1955 Willys Military M-170 Military Jeep up for auction. This Willys has gone through an extensive, nut and bolt, frame-off, total restoration.
Willys produced just over 4000 of these Jeeps for the military, making it one of the rarest Jeeps ever produced, the civilian version (the CJ-6) was offered to the public a few years later.

It’s got a Willys Truck cab.
“This truck is a everyday driver if you want it to be.it is a lot of fun and a blast to drive.i traded my harley for this a couple weeks ago and now need to sell it to buy my 17 year old daughter a first car.i may trade this for a good clean,lower milage(less than 150k) car or small sub.it needs to be 2000-up and a automatic.may also trade for another classic car or hot rod,rat rod but must be pre 1972.i like all brands,models and years so send me some pics via tex.now lets talk about the truck.It is a 1953 willys pick-up cab,1941 international rear fenders,1959 volkswagon bug front fenders and all on a injected s-10 frame and drivetrain.i was going to put a small block and turbo 350 in it.we all know that they make small block mounts designed for the s-10 frame.the truck has led brake lights,power brakes,a very kool interior and much more.please understand that this is a rat rod and although it is put together very well it does squeak or rattle a little but its better than a lot I’ve seen.i have a piece of lexan to replace the red one in the back glass.nice wheels and tires are brand new with 50 miles on them.the chopped top looks kool and the body drop is right on time.”

“Hot roded 1946 cj 2a. 1946 cj2a with a ford 302,C4 automatic,4 wheel disc brakes,Dana 30 front dif.with 373 gears,Dana 44 rear with 513 gears.I do have the 373 gears for the rearend just need to be installed with a pos. carrier. Also have an aluminum radiator that needs to be installed. Other than those two parts its ready to run. It also has Beard racing seats with 5 Point harneses,full cage rollbar.tilt frontend.6 aluminum rims 4 at 10×15 and 2 at 12×15 for paddle tires,tilt stearing wheel,chevrolet tail lights and 5 inche hologen head lights. The rear floor has been replaced with a white maple floor the body mounts have been rebuilt with teak replacing the old wood. It also has a 12 gallon aluminum fuel tank under the back floor,”

This needs work. It has a rare fiberglass CJ-3B body and front clip. Unclear if the chassis was originally a CJ-3B or not.

This looks like a solid combo.
“Once retired from service with the military, this M38 Willys was used by a city in Colorado as a spray vehicle until purchased by a civilian here in Kansas and partially restored. Jeep runs and drives very well. All lights work, including trailer lights. Jeep has good tires, as well as trailer; one tire is new. Includes a new vinyl top and doors. Must be purchased as a set.”
