Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (06/18/2012) This look alike a to-good-to-be-true ad. Possible scam.
“1955 M38A1 Willys Military Jeep with only 50 K original miles, very solid, no rust holes, runs and drives good with original 4 cylinder engine and T-90 3 speed transmission.Has front turn signal black out lights still intact and drivers side rear black out light included, data plates on dash still intact. Brakes work, heater works, good clutch, turn signals and lights work. Has original seat frames with back seat and original canvas top and gerry can stamped US. Original style side curtains and doors are available new reproduction to match top. Own a piece of history. easy to restore or use as is, with original title from 1977 when purchased from army surplus. Has been converted to 12 volt.”

The seller also has a few more things, such as 5 combat rims for $500, that he will sell to the winner of this auction.
“Offered to the highest bidder, this WWII-era Ford manufacturered GPW 1/4t Utility Vehicle (JEEP) serial number 125,686 with a build date of 7 June 1943. Perfectly restorable tub and frame with the complete running gear from the transmission back along with plenty of “F” marked parts. The serial numbers of the tub and frame match along with the title so all that’s missing is the original motor. The front floor and lower firewall to include the axe patch , radio junction box and the radiator crossmember need replacement but from the machine gun mount back it’s sold including the hatchannels, tool box wells and back bumper. I have not inspected the transmission, transfercase or drive lines and pumpkins for functionality but I assume they will clean up nicely once all the road debris and accumulation of grease and dirt has been wire-wheeled off.”

Looks like some rust on the driver’s side, but otherwise appears pretty solid.
“This is a 1943 Ford GPW I picked up in 2008 with intentions to restore. I don’t have the time it needs and need to clear up a little space. The pictures show it needs some body work. We have a new fuel pump for the Jeep that goes with it. It comes with the windshield, a rare back seat. The fuel tank leaks and we tried getting it fixed. The engine is free and the seller put fuel in the carburetor to fire it up and it turned over in 2008. Buyer will have to apply for a lost title on this vehicle. I do have the bill of sale around from the auction it was purchased”

The engine on this has been rebuilt. It runs.
“48 willys Jeep, engine has been rebuilt, it does run, but the steering box is bad, and obviously from the pics it does need work. But, its all original, and mostly just surface rust. It was my dads, he put a new windshield, taillights and headlights in it, and did take it gopher hunting a few times. I know its worth something to the right buyer, it will have to be loaded on a flatbed to haul it out..”

I just thought this was interesting in that it looks parked in the middle of nowhere. Of course, to be fair, Elko is in the middle of nowhere. That means that Ryndon is even more in the middle of nowhere.
