About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
This looks good, though I’m not a fan of the side mirror.
“Really straight and clean jeep. Has the overhead valve engine and it runs very good. Has a set of doors that come with it. The only thing it might need is a better set of tires”
This has a few issues, but the body appears solid.

Was running. It looks pretty solid, though it has been modified. It looks like someone bent the back seat backwards.
“Old willy’s project. Bought it in Tuscon running 6 months ago but changing to a different project now.Never got started.
Took battery out and the gas tank needs replaced. Needs gas and battery but will run.Could be awesome.MB’s are getting harder to find.”
Brian built this nice looking rig. Here’s a cool bit piece of history. This appears to be 1 of 2,135 Ford-of-Canada assembled M-38s. This particular jeep has some unique features, including the most unusual tailgate latching system I’ve ever seen (are those car seat belt latches?).
“This is a Ford M38 Jeep, built under contract to Ford from Willys in 1952 for the Canadian Army. About 2600 were built. I have rebuilt this entire jeep, it now has a rebuilt 283 Chevy engine with a turbo 350 tranny. The engine has been moved back in the frame about 7 inches, the firewall was moved back very tastefully to accomodate. The engine has been extensively modified with: .040″ overbore, new flattop pistons, a lumpy Crane cam, Edelbrock intake and carb, Mallory distributor, Crane roller tip rocker arms and lots of chrome of course! The tranny was rebuilt, has a stock convertor and a mild shift kit, the jeep is so light it will chirp the tires in second gear! This Jeep handles extremely well and goes like a scared cat! A Griffin 5 row aluminum rad keeps the little beast cool.
The rear axle is an ’86 S10 unit that has been narrowed. Its running 3:42 gears and Moser axle shafts, the axle has been narrowed. The front axle is from an ’88 jeep Cherokee and has been narrowed too, it has 11″ disk brakes. Rims are American Racing ‘Slider’ 15×8 and 15×7 with BFG rubber 21570R15 and 25560R15. The axles have been narrowed so that the tires both stick out past the fenders the same amount front and rear.”
It also appears to have a special plaque, which I assume is related to it’s former life as a fire department jeep.
“My 1955 Willys Jeep 4X4… Former Chicago Fire Dept Vehicle, always stored inside, original condition, motor rebuilt, new carb., and lots of other new parts… New tires, top a few years old, interior very nice, I have a new battery as the old one is weak… I am selling my little blue baby because I was in a Traffic Accident & broke my Back, my Pelvis, suffered Severe Head Trauma & Whiplash caused by hitting a car that made a left hand turn in front of us, we were traveling at 40 MPH, I was a passenger & my Airbag DID-NOT Deploy… The Jeep has been stored in my garage for 2 years & I can no longer drive it due to the accident… I DO-NOT have to give it away, I don’t need the money & have a 21 year old Son that would love to have it… Come take a look, it is being sold as-is, as-shown, ask questions, NO_RESERVE – the HIGH BIDDER wins!!! I will consider all reasonable offers, LOW BALL offers will be ignored…… The Jeep has always been well maintained & kept inside, it has normal wear for a 56 yr. old vehicle, and very little rust, good original condition, easy restoration, or drive/use as-is, please come take a look… The battery in the Jeep is very weak, I do have a Brand New Battery, but, I can-not put it in the jeep due to the injuries I received in the accident, so it isn’t running to test drive at this time, you are welcome to call & set a time/day to take a look.”
