Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I always thought a Dodge Command Car would be a fun vehicle to own. I know nothing about them and they are probably as practical as Austin Champs, but they seem like they’d be fun projects.
“Offered for sale is a pair of WWII era dodge command cars…… I really do not know much about these things so I got a quick lesson and valuation from a local dodge guru…..
I am told both rigs are 1/2 ton 1941 wc-6’s.
The first rig is fairly complete with decent sheet metal and a frame with factory winch extensions on it. The motor turns over and most of the extraneous parts (fenders, windshield, winch, headlight buckets, etc.) are in the back of the bed. It has the original front seat frame. The dash on this truck has square gauge cutouts (the dodge guy told me this is an early dash but I cannot confirm that) and the data tag on the dash is intact.
The second rig is a rolling chassis (non-winch type) with a transfer case in it. This was intended as a donor rig for the first truck and the body is separated into panel sections and stacked on the frame.
The dash on this rig has round gauge cutouts.
These originally belonged to an older gentleman who had begun work on the first rig using the second as a donor. He passed several years ago and they sat until I ended up with them…..
There are no titles for these rigs — they will come with a notarized bill of sale only………

“This is a 1943 Willy’s MB military style flat fender jeep. It is all original except for the motor. All the running gear is original except it has a small Buick v6 in it. It has an original all aluminum arctic top hard top. Perfect restoration project. Asking $1000. Call me at 253 732 2363. AND YES I DO HAVE A TITLE FOR IT.”

(04/06/2011) This needs a little work, but might have a body in good condition.
“1951 Willy’s CJ3 My grandfather bought this new years ago. I haven’t run it for a few years because it likes to overheat but it did run last time I tried. It still has the original motor. The paint is weathered but the unit doesn’t have any major damage to it. The four wheel drive still works. The front brakes do need some work on them. The top isn’t the original one that came on it. The gas tank would also need to be replaced. The metal gas tank has accumulated rust on the inside. Email me if you want to make an offer. I’ve already been offered $2000 for it. I will not ship the item and will only accept cash for the sale.”

(11/08/2010) The seller’s comments suggests this is an original body that has had work done. If so, I’m guess some kind of mb/gpw (no gas outlet and no tailgate)?

Alex spotted this jeep-as-gathering-spot courtesy of photographer George Silk and Life Magazine. The image was taken in October 1945. I wonder if the film shot by the cameraman on the left still exists.
Over a period of 9 years, between 1993 and 2002, this 1944 MB saw two major restorations. The first, done by owner Richard Grace, was a partial restore, returning the jeep to its MB roots. The second, done by Brian Mead, refined and corrected some of the previous shortcomings.

“For sale is a combo, restored 1956 Willys CJ-5 jeep and 1966 Bantam civilian 1/4 ton jeep trailer. They were both restored and painted to match just a few years ago, then stored in a building. The jeep has a metal half cab, heater, new upholstry, Ramsey 8,000 lb winch that has never had the cable spooled out, Warn over-drive, original 4 cylinder overhead that runs great, new front hubs, roll bar, small driving lights inside the grill, rack on the back for extra spare tire and handy-man jack and 5 gallon gas can (included). The trailer is a 1966 Bantam 1/4 ton civilain trailer (more rare than the military version), wood racks, spare tire, detachable tool box, and wired to match the jeep. PLUS, this also comes with a full set of mud and snow tires for BOTH the jeep and trailer, already mounted on a full set of spare wheels. I will not split the set up, this is a package deal. Compare the price of this set to a new “Rhino” at close to $11,000, and it makes this jeep and trailer look well worth the price. I have more money invested than the asking price of this jeep and trailer, with the restoration, extra tires and wheels… Clear Oregon titles. These pictures were taken about a week ago. I am also selling a 1960 CJ-5 in another listing. Thanks!”
