1948 Truck Mason, Mi $3200

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Here’s a modified truck that looks pretty good.

“1948 Willys pickup built on a 1985 Ford Bronco II. Ford 2.8 liter V6 with power brakes and power steering. 4WD, 4 speed manual, sun roof. Since earlier listing have had frame welded and replaced bucket seats with a bench seat, making it much more comfortable for taller drivers. Recently had engine tuned up, new starter and fuel pump. Less than 1700 miles on front brakes. Starts and runs well. Single owner, clear title. Actual mileage unknown.

This would is a good hobby truck that technically doesn’t need anything, but could stand some improvements here and there as time and money allow. Paint is fair, with a few points flaking off, especially on the roof. Tires are fair and not in need of immediate replacement, but a new set of larger wheels would look better. Previous owner created wood tailgate, but the original Willys tailgate is available – it is solid but needs work. The wood pickup bed could be replaced. The radio is old and should be replaced along with new speakers. Carpet is OK but eventually could be replaced, with floor / firewall insulation added. Doors could be better aligned and have weatherstripping replaced.

The truck has vintage, rugged Willys looks but with more modern amenities. I am only selling because I bought another ’48 Willys truck. No trades.”

Mobile Orientation Unit — Fritz Kaeser

Originally published in January of 2010″

In the two photos below, photographer Fritz Kaeser captured this Mobile Orientation Unit presentation on June 28, 1945, near Cividale, Italy (at least that’s the assumption as Cividale is scribbled on the back).  I did a search on “Mobile Orientation Units”, but didn’t have any success learning more about them.  Fritz ran a studio in Wisconsin before World War II and then headed to the Western U.S. after the war, photographing the American Southwest and the Rocky Mountains.  These photographs are a part of Denver Library’s Western History Collection.

This photo shows the Tenth Mountain Division Information and Education’s Mobile Orientation Unit’s jeep-top stage parked in the middle of a grassy field during a discussion of the Pacific campaign. Pfc. Bob Wright (left) and Sergeant Ed Curry sit at tables atop the stage. Behind them is a banner with a map of Japan and the slogan: One war, one world. A jeep trailer contains a sound system and two loudspeakers, a third loud speaker is on the other side of the stage.  http://photoswest.org/cgi-bin/imager?00200148+TMD-148

And now we have this beautiful ‘1943 Military Jeep’ …. Seriously, here’s the sign!  Sure lookings like a militarized CJ-2A to me.  See more pics as well. I sure hope they didn’t pay too much for that!
