Some Interesting Getty Images

I happened upon some Getty Images, so thought I’d do a search on Getty’s website.  They have some cool images, though a variety I have seen in other places.  Note that some of the descriptions and/or dates aren’t quite right.  For example, the “date created” for the Willys MA image below is Jan 1, 1941.  However, the Willys MA wasn’t delivered until April of 1941.

Click here to see all the Getty Images with the Search Term of “Willys”

1.  This is a Willys MA

2. Here’s another Willys MA

3. Here are snow skiers in  France

4. This is a color image from the D-day Preperations in England.

5. A Rare Farm Jeep Photo (note the hood and windshield are inscribed with Jeep rather than Willys).  This original photo is of the CJ-2 X26, identified by Fred Coldwell on page 165 of his book PreProduction Civilian Jeeps. He notes that for advertising purposes, a 2nd version of this photo was created, with the grille of the CJ-2 airbrushed to look like a standard CJ-2A grille (the mb grille and brush guard are wiped away).

“I have a 1967 Austin Champ British Military Jeep that I wanted to restore, but I can’t seem to find the time or money! It has a 4 cylinder Rolls Royce engine, and is a left hand drive 4 wheel drive. It would make a great Christmas gift to someone who could restore it. I’m asking $2500 or best offer. Call me with questions:”

1952 M-38 Philadelphia, PA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: M-38 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.

“For sale is a 1952 Willys M38 Korean war Army Jeep with title. It is NOT assembled, and will need to be towed from it’s current location. It is a complete package. I have all body parts including N.O.S. front fenders and grill. The original 4 Cyl engine, T-90A trans, and Spicer 18 T-Case. Both original Axles, 4 wheels and 5 BRAND NEW military tires. the Chassis currently has a Small Block Chev 350 engine and Chevy TH350 trans installed. They also go with the whole package for $2500. I have boxes and boxes of small parts, guages, lights etc… Some N.O.S. parts in there as well. This is a Great project and will come together pretty quickly with a little effort. I NEED to get this out of my shop ASAP so I am willing to bargain within reason. I can send pics upon request. This Jeep is nearly 60 years old so the body is not prefect, but for it’s age it is in very good shape. There are NO holes rusted through the floor, it is straight but shows signs of being used. There is one rust hole in the right rear corner which a patch panel can easily be found or be made for. Any questions,”

The seller now believes this is a Maverick, but I don’t have enough experice with these to know for sure.  It sounds like this vehicle has been in storage for a while.  It might be in good shape for an eastern wagon.
