Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art’s 1952 M-38A1

• CATEGORIES: M-38A1, Museums • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I located a couple good pics of MOMA’s 1952 M-38A1 which was donated by the DaimlerChrysler Corporation Fund. I would suggest calling ahead to make sure this is still on display if you want to see it.  However, the M-38A1 is not the first jeep to be highlighted by MOMA.  In September of 1951, the Museum of Modern Art in New York decided to exhibit iconic automobile design as pure elements of art & design.  One of the eight vehicles chosen was the M-38, with the description as a “sharply rational vehicle”.  You can read more about that at the Jalopy Journal.

This pic is from a snapper of of NYC images for the NYCPIX blog.  There are some good, everyday sort of pics.  If you’ve spent time in NY, you’ll enjoy this site.

This photo is also from a NYC image blog.

Santa favors the Willys MA over the Red Sleigh

• CATEGORIES: Bantam-FordGP-WillysMA-EarlyJPs, Features, Library Collections, Old Images • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  Brendan noted that this is indeed a LOC image. Here is a link to this image and others http://www.history.army.mil/photos/Holiday/wwii.htm.

I suspect it was just easier to stick the tree in the MA rather than his sleigh?  It’s a great pic.  I found this during an image search, but I could not locate the source.  It looks like a Library of Congress type of image.  If anyone knows of the source, please let me know so I can properly credit it.

(07/02/2010) This looks nice.  The seller suggests this is in show quality condition.  If the restoration really is that nice, this might be a good price.

Excellent condition for show quality restoration. Includes binder with interesting advertisements and literature from 1960.”

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: WAS $2000. **SOLD**

This runs.  It looks like a good wind would blow the paint right off of this.

“This is a nice little Flat Fender CJ. Someone went through the running gear a few years ago and it was on the road. It runs good, just put a new battery and fuel pump in it. Brakes are good and I think it will pass inspection as is. The body need some patches. The Plow Hoist in the photo does not come with it.”

This looks like a solid back consistent with some DJ-3As.  I’m assuming this has been modified with 4wd?

This looks great.

“Wow…..here’s a very rare and very unique piece of American Automotive History!!!! 1957 Jeep FC-150 4×4 Pickup. This gem is a well-preserved, 2-owner, ultra-low-mile vehicle fresh out of a private collection, available here to the general public for the first time since in was new!!!  The original owner of more than 50 years lived in a remote area of the Northwest and owned 2 vehicles……..an air-conditioned Cadillac and, you guessed it, this 1957 Jeep Pickup that he special-ordered and bought brand new. One vehicle he used for his weekly commute to town in the summer, the other, in winter. The Jeep lived a privileged life, clocking just a tad over 13K original miles on the odometer!!!!!! The truck has been regularly maintained over its entire life, and looks, runs and drives great. The Hurricane 4-cylinder motor starts easy and runs like a watch. It is easy to drive, feels safe and secure and the cab-forward design gives the driver great visibility and excellent maneuverability. A very rare, very collectible vehicle……and a very rare opportunity……don’t miss out!!! Call today! Tel: 360-416-4995 …”

1962 CJ-5 “Yolanda” Fort Worth, TX **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ5 • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay

The seller notes the paint job fits the jeeps name “Yolanda” (apparently, it is a long story … lol)

“1962 Willys Jeep.  Starts and runs as-is.  Recent work includes new clutch, rebuilt carburetor, new mud grip tires on five original wheels that have been sandblasted, primed and painted.  New seat frames have been fabricated, one additional passenger seat frame included.  Good compressions on all cylinders.  Transfer case shift mechanism is tight and hard to shift; needs work.  Includes original front bumper wench.  Windshield and spare tire rack included (not shown) I rate this Jeep as a good restoration candidate; I just don’t have the time or motivation to rebuild it.  Custom paint suits her name “Yolonda” (it’s a long story).  She needs a good home and significant TLC.”
