A reader emailed these pics today. There’s a variety of creative ideas on a jeep that’s been thoroughly rebuilt. My personal favorite is the spring plate solution, seen on this first pic. I’m going to make me some of those spring plates this winter. Also note some of the storage solutions as well. Thanks for sharing pics of Red Dog!
“Just thought I’d ad my 3a to the many great ides on your site. Mine is a ’50 3a body and frame with a 225, t90, d18, D30 and D44. Everything is modified.”
UPDATE: Bob also snapped a picture at Phil Nelson’s Place in Columbiana. You can see it below.
I’ve never been there, but these are some great pics of the place from Gerald.
“A small display outside of Phil Nelson’s place in Columbiana Ohio. It is truely a treasure.”
Speaking of Bob, he has created a calendar he calls Broken Down Heroes. You can see some of his images here http://www.ewillys.com/?p=14615 and more here. You can get the calendar from a variety of sources, including Calendar.com.
The images span a range of vehicles likely trapped in their final resting place. Of course, there are a few jeeps sprinkled about his photographs.
It’s been modified some and beat up some as well.

“1959 WILLY’S CJ5 JEEP EXCELLENT RUNNING ORDER WITH MINOR RUST MAJOR OVERHAUL 6000 MILES AGO ON THE ORIGINAL HURRICAN “F” HEAD 134 CID ENGINE”

It’s missing the lights upfront. It looks complete and original.
“1953 M38A1 4×4 jeep. Runs and drives. Rebuilt transmition and transfer case, 24 volt ignition system. This jeep is mostly original and would make a good restoration project as it has all original components in good shape with a solid frame and very restorable body. All parts for restoration are still available for this jeep.”
