Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This looks like a nice cage. The body looks in pretty good shape as well. Includes a front clip as well.

It appears to have a number of modifications, including a suspension change and a tilte steering wheel. It may not much more than a parts jeep at this point.

This looks to be a good price. The tires look good and the body looks straight from the picture angle. Given the seller didn’t include the keyword “willys” this may be a difficult one for most people to find, which might mean the price will drop some more from lack of calls.

Maybe there are more of these VW kits than I realized. This is the fourth I’ve seen for sale this year. While the seller claims this is a 1942 body, all the kits, including this one, appear to me to use a version of the M-38 body (or replica body).

“1948 willys pickup Flat front Homemade bed(solid and good shape) All original 6 volt system. Good dash, all gauges intact. interior all there, bucket seats. Frame pretty good. Have a finished, primered front clip to go with it. Hood, fenders, grille professionally blasted, repaired and primered. Foot starter, had engine running Springs really good, look new.Been on a farm last 30 years. Looking at buying a wagon and need to sell $1500.00 with front clip. “This is a very nice CJ-2A California jeep that is redone as a WWII Medic’s vehicle. This was my Dad’s Jeep which he purchased in California (where he lived) in the 60’s. I brought it to Pennsylvania last year and put a new exhaust, brake system and water pump on it along with a tune up and head gasket. New canvass summer top and front seat cushions. Has always been garaged here in PA. Runs, drives and stops like new. Has new radial tires and Overdrive which really makes driving it a joy.”

It looks like this jeep has had some interesting upgrades. I’ve seen a few other jeeps with the Ford 9 inch rear, but am not clear what the advantages of that are.

A reader wrote to me asking for some input regarding some replacement electric windshield wipers. I couldn’t answer his question and, in fact, I’ll have the same problem once I install my electric wipers. Here’s what he wrote:
” I just bought the electric wiper conversion kit from Omix-ada, but the instructions are limited to the wiring diagram. As you can see from the picture, the shaft length would seem to cause a problem in a direct exchange. I have thought of cutting down the shafts(inner and outer) but wonder if I’m missing something easier. I have Googled the web to see if any one has discussed the conversion, so far no luck. I wonder if you or any of your readers has used these. Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks Phil”

“1945 Willys Jeep- It has a 4 cylinder engine which turns over, but it has an electrical problem somewhere so it is not starting. It has a rebuilt starter. It also has a tow bar, a roll bar, and dualmatic locking hubs. Needs brake job. I have the pink slip and it’s registered as a non-op. We have too many projects and need to sell this one.”

I suspect underneath that diamond plating (I think it is diamond plating) is some wear & tear or rust. Otherwise, it’s a running CJ-3B that looks pretty good for only $1700.
