(11/28/2020) Runs? The drain holes have been filled, so it’s likely had some body work. Both sides of the body have been notched near the seats.

This VEC CJ-2A still has the column shift and is in pretty original condition. It runs and drives. Drive as is or restore. Includes parts for a rear PTO/gearbox.

1944 Article on Former Decorator’s Japanese Prisoners

This is a fun article about a former decorator turned jeep jockey named Pvt. Hurshal (Peewee) Wilson in New Guinea ‘captured’ 17 prisoners. It appeared in the Medford Mail Tribune (Medford,Oregon). His jeep was named “Helen” after his girlfriend.

Hurshal would survive WWII and leave the Army a Tech 5, but his relationship to Helen did not. Instead, he married Deedra R (Harman) Wilson. He passed away in 1991, his wife passing later in 2006, with both buried at Riverside National Cemetery. There is no evidence they had children.

After finding the article, a search on eBay led to this photo of Hurshal:

“Aftermarket Sears Manual Locking Hubs Taken Off Willys MB Fits CJ2A GPW Jeep CJ. Condition is “Used”. Used take offs for rebuild or parts. D-bubba-ing my 1945 MB and finally got around to removing these off the front axles. As is condition. The Jeep has not run since I acquired it and therefor these are untested in driving conditions. Mounting bolts are not included.”
