UPDATE:  Price dropped to $2500.  This may be a scam.  Apparently there is no Ladera in NM.

(04/19/2011) I can’t tell if this is a VEC or not.

“For sale one 1945 Willys Jeep CJ2a. The jeep seems to be mostly stock except for larger gas tank installed behind seats, the tailgate, and the carb not original oil bath and 12 volt . There are probably other things not original, but I am a total rookie on these Willys. During my period of ownership I had new pistons & rings installed, emergency brake, yokes, seals and new fluid in drive train. I believe the 4wd works; temp, oil pressure, speedometer work, the gas gauge and horn do not. The lights & turn signals work. Has a massive manual crank winch on front in case you get stuck. Vehicle runs & drives and started right up in the coldest of days this past winter.
I have a clean NM title in my name and is currently registered to drive on the street, though doesn’t go much past 40 mph.

This looks in good shape.

“This is a VEC very early 1946 Willys CJ2A 170## . It has the 4 cyl flathead that runs very well. I also has the early 3 speed coulmn shift tranny that shifts fine. Has a like new Best Top soft top with doors.. It has the original 6 volt system and will need a new battery. It has a M38 military windshield .. The tires hold air and have plenty of tread.. Come with a Ohio Title… All in all this is a very nice complete jeep that has sat in my shed for a few years”

This sounds worth a look.

“Everything is original including tan paint and orange rims with black stripes. Canvas top and doors show wear. Body is reasonable with some rust. Needs fuel pump, brake job, etc. Has a new gas tank. Power takeoff (PTO), tow bar and front weights. Column shift, 2 lower speeds (over & under). 4 cylinders. Runs but not drivable on public roads. All serial numbers match. Service manual. Clean & clear title. Has always been in our family. 30,714 miles. Sold ‘As Is’ with no warranty. Can be viewed in Lexington. Will be sold in ten days. Best offer OVER $3,000. That appears to be a VEC body.

I suspect the VIN on this is just under 30,000?  I’m a little surprised that both the dataplates and the vin plates are missing.  I also think those are the ford rims that don’t have the proper center size.

“This Jeep is truly a barn find. The body is in great condition and the chassis needs building. Theres only minimal rust but the engine is probably locked up. The transmission shifts and it does roll. I bought it to put the body on a chassis that I had rebuilt. This Jeep has the rare column shift that shifts fine. Floorboards are good, frame is good but it just needs alot of attention. I just dont have time to finish my project. Title in hand. Been in a barn all its life till I bought it. Its been in a warehouse since.”
