About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .

“This was a VW diesel swap project I have been working on. GM Saginaw power steering conversion. Has painless switch panel. New tires. It is registered, It runs and drives. I unfortunatly underestimated the little diesels power for highway speeds when i chose the gear ratio. Take over this project or I may pull engine to part it out. I still have all the hardware to install a small block Chevy. It has disc brake upgrades large rear brakes. Dana 27 Front, Dana 44 rear. 4.27 gears, Detroit Locker rear. Dana 18 transfer case SM465 Chevrolet truck transmission with Granny gear. I will separate the diesel and sell if interested in the jeep only. Or sell whole thing.”

“Mercedes turbo diesel powered Jeep cj-5 for sale. It was built by the folks at Mercedes diesel 4×4 in eastern Pa and the build is documented on their site, they are the innovators of the Mercedes swap and all work is top notch. This CJ runs great, has lots of cool factor with the 5cyl om617 engine and gets 20+ MPG. It has a BDS 2″ lift on it, 4speed, new bestop supertop,32″ BFG radial all terrain tires. The frame is the cleanest I have ever seen and the all steel body is fair too, it just has some rust blisters. It hasn’t been run in winter on salty roads and has been kept up with.”

“I am selling my 71 cj6. This is a one of a kind vehicle and I can guarantee nobody has one like it. I have completely built it from the ground up. A cj6 is from the factory 20” longer than a cj5. I took this cj6 and cut it down the middle from front to back and widened it 14.5 inches! Yes that means it took two of everything to build this jeep, two grills, two hoods, windshield frames ect. The body sits on a 73 chevy blazer frame with 3/4 ton axles and 37 in tires. The engine is a 5.9 12 valve cummins out of an 89 dodge pickup. If you know about diesels then you know that this engine is as reliable as they get, best diesel ever made. It has a tf727 automatic transmission that was rebuilt less than 2000 miles ago, in fact the entire jeep has les than 2000 miles on it sense it was built. here is a parts list. Continue reading →
If you’ve been following Mitch Carter on Facebook, you know he’s been doing some great jeeping in his stock diesel-powered CJ-6 (Moab & Black Bear Pass among other places) … at least until he ran into an engine problem.
Now he’s hoping to find a second perkins 4.192 diesel engine. He thinks massey ferguson tractors, forklifts, generators, etc. Even a 4.203 indirect injected one would get him by until i can rebuild the original engine. If you have one, email me at d@ewillys.com or comment below and I’ll get you in touch with him.
I’ve known Mitch since he was a young kid. He does a lot for the PNW jeeping community and is always willing to lend others a hand.
About his engine problem he wrote, “I got crossed up on a rock on the alpine loop, and the fan bit the radiator. We patched it as good as we could which got us off the trail and over one pass to silverton. And this is where i made the mistake of leaving the cap off the radiator so it wouldn’t build pressure…. the gauge only read 200* but it was fooled by hot air and not water. The engine was much hotter and I fear it’s toast. Very little compression, hard to start but will still turn over and run badly while making equally bad noises.”

A few pics from Moab earlier in the trip.
And a couple from the top of Black Bear Pass in Colorado: Continue reading →
