About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
“1949 Willys CJ2A. Good running condition. Ready for your deer lease. Gun rack mounted between seats. Has a new set of all terrain tires. New carburetor. Bed has been extended (so deer/hogs will fit) and dual fuel tanks added on rear.”
This modified CJ-5 has an extended rear. The seller is unsure of the year, but it seems most likely a mid 1960s CJ-5 given the lack of a tailgate stamp and no faux battery box lid.
“According to the previous owners this Willy jeep is a 1954 or 1945 but I’m not sure I but this jeep to restore but I never have the time to do it iff you looking for one off this this is your opportunity is hart to find one off this I don’t have the title transmission and motor was working”
UPDATE: Here’s a rare example of the S&B Corp’s All-Steel ‘Jeep’ Panel Body. This Buck & Sons Tractor & Implement Company MB/GPW had a cargo-wagon-like setup added to it. The company was out of Tacoma (where I lived for four years).

UPDATE: Jerry contacted me about a locomotive jeep he would like to restore (see near bottom). He noted that it was used at Tinkertown and found this older post while hoping to learn more. So, this post is a complete redo of an early post that focused just on photos in a January 1950 issue of Popular Mechanics.
One of those carnivals was a traveling kiddie carnival called Tinkertown. Articles show it existed at least from 1950 through 1952, operating in Monrovia, Wilmington, Los Angeles, and other LA area towns.
The fourth known jeep was a jeep turned into a locomotive. It’s the one Jerry now owns (along with two of the tram cars), one he’d like to restore. It’s in surprisingly complete condition. He’s hoping to learn more about the manufacturer and/or Tinkertown. Here’s a photo of his train:
“”Visit Cougar Mountain Lodge- Smith’s Ferry, Idaho” b/w RPC, street scene with frontal image of the Post Office, quaint picture, flag flying above the A-frame post office, with a jeep parked in front; Business district , Lynn’s Place, Boise Meat Co., Miller signs ; white border, clouds, with forest in background behind Post Office; vintage card; rear of card unused; no divider, stamp box has unusual EKC lettering looks like an anvil on an e-bar Provenance: Country (if not USA): State: Idaho City/County: Smith’s Ferry Date: unknown”
(05/18/2020) Coincidently, $2500 ($1500 in cash, key fob, and other stuff and $1000 in tires) is how much it cost us to get out of Spanish Fork when we were there in 2018! This modified CJ-5 is kinda ugly and cool at the same time. Given he top, the winch, and the turbine rims, there just might be some value here. No description provided.
“1942 ford gpw script. Dates March 1942. Been in the dry in Australia. Had some extension work carried out to the rear tub. But no big deal to put back to normal. Has ww2 engine fitted”
“This is a 1960 CJ5 Jeep Willy’s motor is not locked up turns over has a new carburetor and a generator on it New oil and new seals in the motor only thing this needs to run is the motor needs to be timed and you need to do breaks and electrical wiring. Also comes with a new top in the back of I”
This photo appeared on Facebook. The rear bed extension is either a one-off customization or a dealer-related modification. Either way, I’ve not seen another one of these.
It reminded me that these two unusual, extended 2As were also from Seattle (taken at Arthur Warn’s service station. I’ve never seen another like this or the one at the top.
“Has been sitting in my garage the last few
years, and I now know I will never finish the project, The engine is froze It is an F head engine I remove the head, number four cylinder is froze the rest probably are stuck as well, It is still fixable, Overall condition seems to be really good, it has a three speed shifter on the steering column
Pop out front windshield works, it has a metal top with doors, and at some point somebody added about a foot to the back of the jeep box. Will sell for 1500 or trade”
“1950 Willys Jeep rod 350 engine 350 trans. Runs excellent, will do 75 down highway. Runs drives stops like it should. It’s 2 trucks turned into one to make an extended cab. Not done by me. Come take a look. Gets tons of questions and looks everywhere it goes. Trans was just serviced with new fluid, gasket and pan. Found something else I want so this is for sale. Tires are brand new Firestone whitewalls and fresh powder coating on wheels. Found something I like and need this to move on, make offer. Let’s make a deal”
