Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I had no idea there were this many Pepsi Surreys produced. I can’t believe someone didn’t get this photo in color. Eighteen of these were sent to Tulsa. I can’t imagine there aren’t a few stragglers still in the area. This photo is from the March 1960 issue of Jeeps News.
This April 1956 article from Willys News highlights the importance of fleet sales to an Oklahoma dealer.
Craig writes, “This was the Midnight Drive-away program that happened at the conclusion of the 1959 Chicago Auto show.There was a little written article about the event but it was pieced together and not easily scanned.”

Craig sent this scan from a Willys News article (though we are uncertain of the exact issue). It shows a DRW FC-170 with some special street painting equipment.
I tried to do some updates last night, but the internet wasn’t cooperating. For lack of any other reason, I’m going to blame the storm. I think I should be able to do some updates mid afternoon.

This is Volume 1, #2 of Vagabond: Adventures in 4-Wheel Drive.
“NOS Jeep Vol #1 Issue#2 “Vagabond” Adventures In 4WD, Factory Magazine sent to customers, 5 1/2 X 8 1/2, 30 pages of articles that would appeal to a broad band of potential “JEEP” customers and sprinkled with liberal doses of Jeep product ads and tie ins.”
Craig found this article in the August 1956 issue of Jeep News. A pair of signs only cost $7.00 at the time.
