These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. UPDATE: This now lives on the East Coast. I got to examine it up close at the 2013 Bantam Festival. The work is excellent. It was bought for $9000. It has more of a surrey look to it now.
I used the IMCDb.org site to attempt to locate an image of the jeep to the right from a shot in the movies. You can see a DJ-3A from Blue Hawaii (not a very good shot). Or the same shot enhanced and cropped to the left. Here’s a link to a shot of the Nutty Professor’s DJ-3A.
This flat fender (the one on the right) falls into the ‘unusual jeep’ category. Apparently, it’s a movie star!

(09/15/2010) This looks good, but the bottom of the driver’s side of the body doesn’t quite look straight. I’m not sure if there is a rail along the bottom, a little indent or what it is or just a photo issue.

Continuing with yesterday’s e-jeep, while not a 4wd vehicle, this eco-motor jeep look-a-like appears inspired by the CJ-5. According to ecofriend.org, “The Fun retails for $24,995, though they have an introduction price of $19,995, and can deliver a top speed of 70mph and an operating range of about 100 miles between charges. The vehicle uses the customizable MiMod EV monitoring system from EV Instruments, which is an integrated system of sensors, monitoring logic and operational controls that can be customized to suit any type of EV.”
“1955 Willys truck. Has a ’72 Chevy 350, turbo 400 automatic, dana 20 transfer case. Original axles with 4.88 gears. In very good shape. Comes with a pair of upgrade axles- Dana 44 front and Ford 9″ rear. Runs strong- lots of new parts. $2000 obo”
According to the seller, that is the original paint.
“For sale is a original and rare 1959 FC170 with the 9 foot bed option. Original paint, never been repainted. Two previous owners, complete and fully documented ownership history, including the original dealership bill of sale. Everything works. Everything on the Jeep is original, the interior is complete, seat upholstery is original, the running gear is refurbished and works as it should, including the engine, the 3 speed manual, the transfer-case, 4 wheel drive, axles, diffs, all in good running condition. Rebuild gas tank and rebuild the sending unit. This Jeep drives real nice, and everything works, the heater, all the electrical, the turn signals, lights. Complete with original headliner, original door panels, original sun visors, and a few rare items like a vinyl cigarette box holder attached to the visor. The stencil “Jeep” and “4 Wheel Drive” insignias on the tailgate are original. The tires are original old stock, most likely the second set, dating early 60’s. A true survivor, this Jeep spent 90% of her life in one family, who owned a RV business in a small town in Washington State. The Jeep was mostly used to plow occasional snow on the RV lot, otherwise the Jeep parked in the dry. The body is completely stock and original, no accidents, no rust with the exception of pitting and surface rust on rear fender flares and surface rust on the bed floor. Because it is so original I never had plans to repaint or frame-off restore this Jeep, I always loved the original condition it is in. I just made everything work properly, with the goal to avoid any modern upgrades or parts replacements that are not era correct. This Jeep drives real nice, it breaks properly, shifts nicely and the engine sounds very healthy. This FC170 is a true survivor. Your chance to own a piece of Jeep history. UPDATE: I visited the Tender Website … there is a long video on the front page showing all aspects of this 4wd e-vehicle. Truth be told, they had me at “sexy french woman hops in the front seat and takes off”
I ran across this post and image of what appears to be a small, electric jeep on a forum based in the philippines. After more searching, I discovered this e-vehicle is sold in France and found out more about it from autoblog.com, which has covered this in a couple articles (here and here).
From the autoblog post, here is some information: “You can have it in two flavors, which depends on your driver’s license. If you are 16 and have a basic motorcycle license (called A1 in Europe) you can drive one of this cars which is homologated as a quadricycle. Performance is then quite discreet, limited to 45 km/h (slightly more than 30 mph) and it can’t be driven on highways. However, if you have a regular car license (B1), the car can run up to 80 km/h and can run on highways. The engines can yield 4 kW, 8 kW or 12.8 kW of power depending on the configuration of the vehicle.
The car is a real 4WD with four motors, one for each wheel. The electricity is stored in the floor in 12 lead-acid batteries that store 48 V and 240 Amperes each. It’s enough to drive the car up to 100 km (60 miles). Lead acid batteries were used because they are reliable, have a decent life span (claimed to be from 50,000 to 70,000 km) and low cost of substitution (around 2,200 EUR) when they do die out.. The cost of the car is between 10,000 and 15,000 EUR, depending on options.”
