This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1949 Willys Jeepster and good drivable condition. Three (3) speed on the column with electric overdrive. Fun weekend vehicle for the whole family, including the dog. The Jeepster is an automobile originally produced by Willys-Overland Motors from 1948 to 1950.[3] It was developed in hopes of filling a gap in the company’s product line, crossing over from their “utilitarian” proto SUVs and trucks to the passenger automobile market. The basic model included numerous deluxe features and interior fittings in addition to a high level of standard equipment that cost extra on other automobiles. A total of almost 20,000 were manufactured.”

“I have a 1959 Willys CJ6 Jeep that I am looking to sell. The Jeep is 98% original and complete. It starts, runs and drives like it did in 1959 or better. I replaced the battery last year and that is all I have honestly had to do with it to make her road worthy.
My plan was to restore it however, in the interests of building a bigger shop, I have decided to let this one go. Serious inquiries and offers only, please. If you don’t know what you are looking at, and are interested, I will tell you. If you are only here to make comments, please move along.
There were only 2,002 of these built in 1959 and about 40,000 total CJ6’s from 1955-1975. Just for a brief comparison, there have been 2.1 *million* Jeep Wranglers (JK) built from 2007-2018 and nearly 4 million Jeeps with the Wrangler model name since 1987. The CJ6 is a rare model with a 20″ longer wheelbase than the CJ5.”
UPDATE: Price now $11,500. Was last listed in 2018. This may have been purchased and is now being resold?

(04/01/2020) Mechanically, this looks like it’s been thoughtfully restored. I’m just not sure how the restorer figured out what the “correct WWII Olive Drab” would be?

“Fully restored frame-off restoration. No part of this vehicle has been left untouched.
EVERYTHING has been either rebuilt, restored or replaced with either new or NOS parts.
The entire vehicle was disassembled, cleaned, media blasted, repaired or restored, primed and painted with correct WWII Olive Drab enamel paint.
UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was $16,950.

Robin noticed that this doesn’t have a battery box; yet it does have all the other characteristics of an M-38A1 body (and does not have the CJ-5 body branding). Anyone have any thoughts as to why?

“Phaeton VJ-3. This was an open air convertible with soft top and removable side curtains. It is one of only 2960 built and is powered by a rebuit L-head 4 cylinder 3 speed engine with overdrive. It has been restored to its original look. The tan convertible top is in excellent condition. The vehicle runs and drives fantastic and it is in outstanding condition.”

(08/18/2018) It’s supposed to have an overdrive, but I don’t see an overdrive shift lever.

(03/17/2020) This could be a good price. It has a rear PTO gearbox and a Deluxe Sears top.
“1946 Willys Jeep. First year of the Civilian Jeep. Runs great, drives great. Motor, transmission, transfer case, differentials, brakes all recently rebuilt. New leaf springs with small lift, good tires, recent paint. Has the rare Power-Take-Off option. Aluminum top in great condition. Clear title and current Oklahoma tag. Ready for work or recreation”

“1953 willys cj3b. She fires up and runs. Pulled my 4wd Toyota out of a mud pit not that long ago. Perfect project or leave her as she is. You might want to trailer her out as her top speed is only about 50mph. Not in a hurry to sell. No lowballs please.”
