Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Blaine shared this Bring-A-Trailer auction for a nice looking FC-170. I love the old school washer bag hanging from the dash. I have an OEM foot actuated bag in Patterson, but don’t have pics at the moment; instead, here are pics of the Allstate washer bag that came with Patterson.

“This 1963 Jeep FC-170 is finished in two-tone red and white over beige vinyl and is powered by a 226ci Super Hurricane inline-six paired with a three-speed manual transmission and a two-speed transfer case. The truck is equipped with a bed-mounted spare, a hydraulic plow frame, and a rear-mounted winch. The selling dealer acquired the truck in 2017, and service during their ownership included an oil change and replacement of the brake lines as well as the rear brake drums and hardware. This Kaiser-built Jeep Forward Control is now offered in Indiana with a clean Pennsylvania title.”

“M38A1 With Mounted M40 106mm Recoilless Rife The M38A1 was the first vehicle to feature the round fender design that would later become the distinguishing body style of the CJ-5 (part of the Universal CJ series). Produced first in 1952, following the retirement of the M38 model, the M38-A1 was re-designed as an “stand-alone” improvement, featuring round front fenders, a contoured hood, a two-piece windshield, top mounted windshield wipers, and powered by the new “Hurricane” F-Head engine and Warner T90 transmission.

“My father purchased this 1946 jeep in 2019 from the original owner here in Dallas. The Willys jeep is a 1946 CJ-2A. It had been in their family since that time. The vehicle was painted white some years ago and was converted to a 12-volt system. The jeep is mostly original with many additional options. A heater, Koenig winch, wipers, blinkers were added to name a few. The original owners manual and framing for the top are also included with a few other random parts. While the jeep would benefit carburetor cleaning the Jeep runs and drives well now. $10,000 obo. Willing to trade. No scams”

Runs great, 24v, new carburetor, new points less than 500 miles ago, original canvas enclosure with removable doors, new batteries, jerry can, spare tire, turn signals, Gama Goat taillight lenses installed, rebuilt transfer case, pioneer tools, manuals. Great start for someone to drive as-is or fully restore. Trailer in good original condition, some surface rust but no rust-thru’s, great candidate for complete restoration, or use as-is.
