“71,000 original miles. 6-226 engine. New clutch, transmission & brakes. Always garaged.”
There appears to be some rust, but otherwise this looks clean. The seller says it needs assembly, so maybe it doesn’t look like this anymore?

Looks like a good restoration.
“Very rare 1942 Willys ‘Slat Grill’ MB with original numbers matching 4 cylinder 60 hp, 134ci L-head ‘Go Devil’ engine with only 1660 miles on it!. Only 200 ‘slat grills’ are estimated to have survived through 2006, according to Army Motors, the official magazine of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association. The last Willys Slat Grill was S/N 125807 – this one is SN 124833 and was delivered to the US Army on March 5, 1942. A full frame-off rebuild was completed in 2009 and she has appeared at hanger dances, parades, Veteran Day’s events, air shows, and USO shows. This is a true show vehicle and not something you take to the bush for hunting. It comes complete with an all canvas top, shovel and axe attached to the side, upgraded brakes, a 12 volt electronic ignition system, and a copy of a M1 Automatic Carbine on the dash. This is a true gem and is garaged – does not sit outside in the weather. A rare opportunity to get a piece of history. Soon enough these will only be found in museums or in private collections. A rare piece of US history to be admired. Shipping or transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. Taylor’s transport does excellent shipping from Canada to USA at reasonable prices. Seller reserves the right to pull the listing if sold before the auction ends. Good luck and thanks for bidding.”
UPDATE: This sold quickly for $5000.
This looks like a great candidate for a restoration.
“This is a 1945 ford gpw military jeep. As far as I know it was only issued to the navy.It belonged to my grandfather who lived in northern Nevada (home of the top gun naval air base) where this jeep spent it’s entire life.It is a dry western vehicle as the pictures show, and has only a few rust-outs along the axe and shovel mounts.this was a radio jeep and so it has a power junction box on the pass. side.Has many accessories intact including: spare tire and mount, jerry can and mount, axe and shovel mount, ball hitch, pintle hitch, antenna power socket, rifle mount tabs,hand-operated windshield wipers, all gauges, data plates and knobs,black-out fender light, original jack, tire iron, and aux.starter crank and tow bar. also there are some new in box spare parts including timing gears and tune up kit.Unfortunately, there is a small crack on the water jacket side of the engine but all other parts of the running gear are good and as the pictures show most of the body including the floors, tool boxes, dash, seats, fenders, and wheel wells are almost immaculate. With a little work this jeep could be show quality. Send message through e-bay or call 1-775-442-0142. Also,I have a friend who is a pro auto shipper and has shipped this jeep before. He is very reasonable and can ship anywhere in the U.S. Thank you for looking!”
This appears pretty stock and in reasonable shape.
“1949 Willy Jeep
CJ-2A
Rebuilt engine with about 400 miles on
Runs great!
Asking $3,500”
This has a MB block with a GPW head. It has no title.
“Take a look at this beautiful 1945 Ford GPW, serial number 247613, date of delivery January 1945. This jeep has undergone a frame off restoration and is perfect for parades, re-inactors, and collectors. This started out as a hunting camp jeep rescued from a camp in Gettysburg Pennsylvania two years ago.
It underwent a frame off restoration done by me over the past several months. I have owned over 24 jeeps and have restored about 17 of them, several MB’s, GPW’s and CJ’s have sold successfully on e-Bay.
The frame was in good shape but needed new front frame horns. It had the wrong body on it and the previous owner put in a civilian flat head L-head engine. The body and that engine were removed and a professionally rebuilt MB engine with a GPW head was put into this jeep as well as a new reproduction DL Bensinger Body.
Everything has been gone through on this jeep and everything has been cleaned, repainted, or replaced with new, NOS, or repro parts.
Chassis and Drive Train: All original GPW drive train except the engine block. Tranny, transfer case, axles, leaf springs front and rear – original F-marked GPW. New/rebuilt shackles, new shocks, new axle bumpers, frame stripped and sand blasted repaired front frame horns including gussets, and bumper – the frame horns repaired/welded to repair some 60 years of wear and tear.
Drive train has new u-joints, new clutch, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing, new seals and bearings on tranny and transfer case which were drained and cleaned repainted, and all fluids and gaskets replaced, rebuilt band type e-brake new hardware and band, and cable, new engine/tranny mounts, new brakes including all lines and hoses, new master cylinder, four new wheel cylinders. Rebuilt steering box and drag link with original re-painted steering wheel. New rear bumperettes, original F-marked pintle hook. 4 new 6×16 6 Ply NDT tires on excellent blasted and repainted combat rims. Spare is a few years older NDT on excellent combat rim.
Engine: An original MB engine that was rebuilt by PROMAR engine rebuilders was put into this jeep. Professionally rebuilt W-O carburetor, new fuel pump, rebuilt manifolds and new gaskets, new 12 volt alternator, new coil, new wiring, new battery, new hoses, new belts, new 180 degree t-stat, new temp. gauge, new ammeter, new fuel gauge and sender, new fuel lines, new plugs and wires. Professionally repaired radiator and new cap.
Body: Bensinger MD Juan GPW body kit; new tub, fenders, grille, windshield including new glass, hood, seats, new fuel tank, new top bows, brackets and hardware, new canvas seats and top (Canvas is Beachwood Canvas), repro. shovel and axe, original 1945 dated gas can, repro. water bucket, rebuilt authentic blackout lights, new headlights and tail-lights, repro data plates.
Misc: All new modern electric, all cloth covered wires, all new gauges, all lights, all new switches work properly. Wiring harness and switches modified to work for regular driving and parades and re-inacting – not for 1940’s war conditions.
Vehicle does not have a title. Mileage is not accurate, new speedometer.”
This looks very nice.
