Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (04/17/2012) This looks pretty solid, however it appears that the rear wheel wells and rear floor don’t have the original scallop indentations.
“1951 Willys Jeep CJ3A A real survivor. Needs restored but runs really good. I have several extra parts that go with the jeep. No top. All original except converted to 12 volt.”
This looks like a solid restoration, though isn’t a perfect one. Given all the extras, it looks like a winner for someone.
“This was literally a frame off restoration; the frame is a rust free straight frame. Everything rebuilt, or replaced. Body is original, hat channels were rebuilt, but it is solid. Motor and drive train rebuilt by an aircraft mechanic. All lights and gauges function. This jeep runs and drives well and is in excellent condition. Always stored inside, all maintenance done. Many extras.
– Original Combat rims & new tires and tubes

– Full Beachwood canvas in excellent condition to include:

“48 Willys CJ2A – Been sitting in the garage for about a year, before that was at a ranch (stored in a garage) since 1981. It ran fine before I put it in my garage but currently not turning over and I don’t feel like messing with it. Clean title in hand. $1600
M416 Trailer – original condition and fully operational, just needs new tires. Some surface rust. It’s also tagged and street legal. Has pintle hitch on trailer and I have the pintle hitch to use with it. $1100 or $2500 for jeep and trailer.”

“I have a real nice jeep just to busy to restore it. It has very little rust out on it just one spot about a quarter in size. The engine supposedly runs when we bought it. We have never tried to fire it but the older gentleman we bought it from said he started it weekly. The oil in it was very clean and turns over. It was originally a 24 volt system but now a 12 volt. I have never tried firing it as I have been to busy. This vehicle will make an awesome dunes vehicle as its a real nice jeep that is a long wheel base. It can hold 2 or 3 rows of seating so a large family could use it or lots of storage room. It was originally an ambulance then radio jeep for the USN as its longer wheel base. It needs a good home that will either restore it back original or turn it into a jeep for a family fun. I have 5 projects ahead of it currently so it would be a few years for me to get to it so my lose is your gain. This jeep is so nice I wish I had the time to put into it but my other military vehicles are first. I have 2 spare rims for it also and a military pintle. The tires on it where the ones it came with but have swapped them for non flat ones.”
