1946 CJ-2A Seymour, In $9000

The seller believes this is 90% complete.

“For Sale or Possible Trade:

This is a 1946 Willys CJ2A Jeep. I’ve been renovating it for about 6 years now. It has a new metal body tub and various other new body parts. I have invested about $9500 in parts, paint, rhino lining, and labor but would take any reasonable offer. Ideally, I would like to work out a trade plus cash. I need a small cargo/work van. An Astro cargo van (like an ex-utility van) would be perfect. An AWD or 4×4 van would be even better but are hard to come by. It needs to be interstate worthy because I will be putting lots of miles on it. Age and mileage don’t matter as long has it still has a lot of life left in it. Small, step vans like the old Chevy P-10 would work too if road worthy. I would also consider some small trucks. The vehicle needs to ultimately take me to Montana.

The 46 Willys is a low geared, 4×4, original flat head 4 banger, stick shift 3 speed. It is a 12v and has always been pretty much mechanically sound. Top speed is 50-55mph. It can climb paved steep inclines in third gear with no problem and can get about anywhere on other terrain. It is perfect for the farm or ranch and does well on the state highways, back country roads, hunting trails, and open fields. It is too slow for the interstate. Though it is very nice, I wanted to be able to drive it on the road so I installed an additional brake light and turn signals ( not standard for the 46). I was going to have a soft half cab made for it, but didn’t have the chance. If I wasn’t so busy I would never let it go. I would say that it is 90 percent complete. No heaters that year and no windshield wiper/s, but can be purchased. Parts are pretty easily found on the internet.. Like to see a jeep enthusiast, mechanically minded person get this little Willys. I could have saved a wad if I could’ve done some of the work myself. It gets attention no matter where you go.

This is a good looking Jeepster.

“Model VJ Phaeton Convertible with original “go devil” 4 cylinder engine and 3 on the tree transmission with factory optional overdrive. All mechanicals have been rebuilt/restored with just over 400 miles driven since. It is a very smooth running and driving car. This is a 1949 model with production figures of only 5,845 built that year, and only 19,132 built over the 3 years of production. This one sports a yellow paint job with yellow and black interior. The top is in excellent condition as are all the side windows. Contact Bruce at 806-265-seventy one twenty one for more information.”

This might make a good restoration project if the seller’s description is accurate.

“Need something to keep you busy this winter? This vehicle needs to be restored. I purchased it completely apart and have no time for the restoration process. The body tub is in excellent shape, frame is perfect, and all parts are with it. All data plates are origanal and still on mounting plate. It is a great project for anyone with restoration experience, and time for the project.”

1999 ‘M-151A2 Encore’ Pompano Beach, Fl **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: M-151 • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Was $11,500.  **SOLD**

Bill pointed out that this is actually a M-151A2 Encore.  These were built  using the M-151A2 running gear for a couple years in the late 90s.  You can read more about them at the G503.com siteHere are good pics of another EncoreHere’s the discussion of the body at the G838.org site.  I tried to find more info on the history of Encore, but didn’t have success, though it went out of business around 1999.

Greg pointed out this unusual M-151. It’s not clear to me if this was built from scratch or rebuilt, but it sure looks like a pretty new vehicle.  In that sense, it’s a rather rare vehicle.  If this WAS built from new parts, then $25,000 isn’t all that high of price to have someone built a vehicle from scratch.  Including the cost of labor, building a jeep from scratch with new parts would likely land in the $25000 realm.  The ad includes lots of pics.

“You are looking at a titled re-creation of a MUTT M151/ army jeep. In 1999 this Jeep was built in Clearwater, Florida for a jeep enthusiast that had a home in Utah as well. It was shipped to Utah in 2002 and used for local driving and recreational use. This vehicle has also won a few trophies in local car shows. In 2009 the Jeep was shipped back to his home in Palm Beach, Florida where it sat in storage. This vehicle is like new with only 400 actual miles. Everything is in working order and it runs like a 400 mile Jeep should. This vehicle cost over $25,000.00 to have built. There loss is your gain. I am only asking $11,900.00. I am open to all reasonable offers.”
