While looking for something else, I was pleasantly surprised with this video of Bruce Agan’s former 1964 DJ-3A Surrey. The video was posted in 2012, prior to his passing. He was the guru of Surreys and Galas for a time and his restoration (including all the interior fabric) is a testament to that fact. There are various photos of his Surrey, Surrey advertising, and other jeeps on Flickr.

1962 Movie/Poster ‘When the Girls Takeover’
UPDATE: Bruce Agan assembled these clips of DJ-3A scenes from the movie, “When the Girls Take Over”.
===========================
Original Post May 10, 2018:
Maury spotted this rare poster for the movie “When the Girls Takeover“. The full movie is on Youtube and the jeep appears in multiple scenes.
“THIS AUCTION IS FOR ONE Original Vintage 1962 MOVIE POSTER FOR THE MOVIE “WHEN THE GIRLS TAKE OVER”.
THE POSTER IS IN GOOD SHAPE AND THE COLORS ARE GOOD AND CLEAR BUT THE WHITE BACKGROUND HAS SLIGHT DISCOLOR DUE TO ITS AGE. THE EDGES SHOW SLIGHT WEAR BUT WILL LOOK GOOD WHEN FRAMED.
THE POSTERS MAIN IMAGE IS OF A WILLYS JEEP “PINK SURRY”!
THE MOVIE FEATURED ROBERT LOWERY, MARVIN MILLER, JACKIE COOGAN, AND JIMMY ELLISON. IT MEASURES 22X28 INCHES.”
Clip from the beginning showing several Surreys in a row.
And the full movie:
DJ-3A Gala in Ride the Wild Surf
Roger Martin pointed me to a Facebook photo from the 1964 movie Ride the Wild Surf. Pictured is Shelley Fabares (who had a higher billing than her female co-star) and Barbara Eden. The beach party movie also starred Fabian and a DJ-3A Gala.
This is a video clip from the beach scene:
Here’s another short video clip of a Gala in the movie:

Some Random Jeep Parades
Just this one post for Tuesday …
A search of Jeep parades at Newspapers.com revealed endless WWII and post-WWII jeep parades for a myriad of causes. Below is a sample:
This August 08, 1943, photo and article published in the Charlotte Observer highlights a jeep parade held for Army Air Force recruitment.
A June 17, 1942, blurb in the Marysville Journal Tribune noted that Marlene Dietrich and 100 jeeps would be parading in Toledo for a War Bond drive.
Sinbad the dog, a decorated 8-year veteran of the Coast Guard, got his own jeep parade according to a January 09, 1946, article in the Marysville Journal-Tribune out of Ohio.
The March 06, 1946, issue of The Leader-Post out of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, reported that the first 100 jeeps to be imported into Colombia formed a parade in Bogota.
Year? DJ-3A Durango, CO **Sold**
UPDATE II: **Sold** was $9000
(06/25/2019) This seems to me to be a later model DJ-3A (has the passenger side vent), but not a Surrey. Overall, it does seem to be in good shape.
“Red, White & Blue All American Willy’s Jeep
Titled as a 1952 M38 but outfitted as one of the Galas, two-wheel drive, all new undercarriage, including rear differential, 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. All new clutch, front axle, shocks, springs, tires and wheels. Original engine, runs great. New radiator, hoses, etc. Newer upholstery on seats.
$17,000 invested and appraised between $15,000 and $25,000
Fun! Very unique, great for parades/special events or just delighting the neighborhood.
$10,000 and can be delivered anywhere for the cost of travel“

1962 DJ-3A Surrey & Parts 2A Kailua, Oahu, HI $3500
This DJ-3A has had a little body work, but looks to formerly be a DJ-3A Surrey given the footman loops on the front fenders.

Introducing the Jeep Surrey
UPDATE: Here are a couple more articles introduction the Jeep Surrey. The first one notes that women will like it for its fashion while men will like it for its fine engineering. I’m less convinced that the term ‘fine-engineering’ should be applied to any of the DJ-3As.
The second was widely disseminated in various arrangements and reminds us that “A similar model, the “Jeep” Gala, was introduced to the export market early this year .“ This documents that the Gala was the export model and the Surrey the domestic model.
This first article was published October 08, 1959, and comes from Utah’s Orem-Geneva Times:
