Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “A rare, working, 1952 Willys Jeep CJ2A with an Auburn Jeep-A-Trench trencher. It will dig a trench 6″ wide and 46″ maximum depth. The trencher was made in Auburn, Nebraska by a company that is still in existence today. I have used this trencher 3-4 times a year for the past 6 years. It has been kept in a barn, each time I just put battery in it and it is ready to go. I have used it for installing water lines, electrical lines, drainage tile and rain water downspouts. It was previously owned by a local plumber. It is simple to use and once digging is started you just stand back and watch it work. It runs great and has not overheated in our hot and humid Kansas summers. Brakes are soft and steering is stiff but you’re really not going to drive it any distance anyway. It is self propelled via creeper gears and the digging outrigger can be raised and lowered via an electric motor. All of the standard Jeep CJ2A features are still retained. It was converted to 12 volt then the trencher unit was added at the factory along with a Governor to regulate engine speed, a PTO unit, an additional drive shaft, heavy springs and frame stiffeners. Exact mileage unknown, but it can’t be to high because the trencher has been on it since day one. Comes with spare parts including extra trencher teeth and chain links and owner guide. Have a clear title. Sold AS IS, no warranty. Also for sale locally. I will not deliver. If you arrange shipping I will assist with loading. Deposit payment of $500 via PayPal within 24 hours of auction ending. Balance of payment will be cashiers check or cash. Cashiers check must clear to be paid in full prior to shipping or removal from sellers location.”

The body appears a little rustier than the seller describes. There appears to be value here.

I wouldn’t describe this as “an easy project”, but there’s plenty here with which to work.
“this is an extremely rare and desirable cj2a with the “Jeep A Trench” option,it is complete but will need full restoration ,the trencher attachment is in very good condition and seems to have been used very little ,the engine is complete and unaltered ,it does turn nd was running when parked but again this will need to be restored. it also has the rare dual wheel option with reverse disc wheels in the front.this is an easy project wince it is mostly complete , it has sat for many years until a shed deteriorated so it has weathered quite a lot.

The serial number suggests this is a ’59 rather than a ’71 or ’72 (http://www.jeeptech.com/models/cj-5.htm).

“Anyone have interst in a 1947 CJ2A (serial #129382) with Jeep-a-Trench option. Unit is complete but chains are all locked up due to rust. Pictured is the well pulling attachment on the front of the jeep. That has been removed and is not included in the sale. The rest of the jeep is mostly complete including the following options: pto controler, shaft, rear gear box, 90 degree gear box (minus the drum), top bows, ag weight, and governor (minus the governor handle). The engine is siezed but has no noticable cracks. Jeep does not have a title. The body is ruff but not a complete basket case. Jeep rolls easily but the steering column is frozen. The wheels still turn side to side by hand so loading on trailer will not be a problem.”

“Mostly original Jeep Cj5 Jeep-a-trench. Body is pretty solid, some rust mainly around hat channels. Half cab w/ pass door only. F-head with governer. (could use carb kit – floods out occasionally) breaks could use some work. Trencher seems to work as it should. Hydraulic creeper drive works great. Open to offers, would rather not put it on ebay. “1948 willys jeep [but not really sure]. It is a nice early CJ with a period [first series] jeep a trench attachment. I also am including a period willys jeep option snow plow. It came off my 47 CJ. I planned on selling only the trencher but have a offer to buy another jeep with plow so I am selling the whole package. The jeep tub has rust and the roof is in rough shape also, it all can be put back together. The jeep run 3 yrs ago and I had it firing & running with gas down the carb but the starter stopped working. This is a rare piece and wouldnt take much to get it working again. It dug trenches for water, electric and a drain line over 150′ within the last 5yrs. It has good tires and a towbar for short towing. bill of sale only. no papers. Buyer to pickup or I have a local guy who can deliver it for a fee. Payment within days of end of auction. Email me with any questions.”
