It sounds like plenty have been done to this jeep.

“This was my winter project. I was going to keep it but, with Jeep offering such good deals on new jeeps, prehaps a new jeep? A TON of work was done by the previous owner, I got it and finished it. All work was professionally done.
It has a new steel body on it, (the fuel filler is in the drivers rear instead of under the drivers seat), just repainted, (it was scratched, no body filler plates)
6 point full roll cage.New fuel tank with “skid pan”.  Electric fuel pump.V-6 motor with low mileage, (no gunk under valve covers or timing chain cover) good oil PSI
New timing chain and gears.  “Hooker” wheel well headers with “Turbo” welded mufflers, (as well as a spare set of small “Cherry bomb” mufflers).  “Moroso” chrome valve covers. Almn. Radiator.  New T-90 3 speed trans, Dana 18 transfer case, clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing.  “Advanced Adpter” chain clutch linkage. Dana 44 rear axle, Dana 27 front axle, (all axle seals were replaced, new fluids in everything underneath, bearing repacked). New brake lines, wheel cylinders, dual master cylinder. New tires on stell spoked rims as well as a spare set of “Mickey Thompson” L-60 tires on “Eagle Alloy” rims. New gauges, Radio, C.B.
Custom Racing seats.  Everything on the Jeep works as it should. It’s not show restored, but a solid jeep.  All it needs is a top and a heater to finish it off. I’ve got all the reciepts for the work I’ve done, as well as as much info as I could on the jeep, plus a list of part vendors.”

I don’t know if this runs or not.  Though the fronts fenders are bent up pretty good, it doesn’t look all that bad.  The tires appears to have plenty of tread.  If you can get the engine to run, this might be a good price.

It runs and appears solid, but based on these pics, I wouldn’t say it is in ‘great shape’.

“THIS IS A 1951 WILLYS JEEP. IT HAS THE FLAT HEAD 4 CYL. IT IS IN GREAT SHAPE. THE FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE, HIGH AND LOW, WORK. IT NEEDS THE BRAKES LOOKED AT. IT RUNS GREAT!!! PLEASE CONTACT ME, ONLY IF YOU ARE SERIOUS.”

1946 CJ-2A Orange County, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500

(05/10/09) This jeep looks good.  It appears to have an updated motor of some type as I think I see a header coming down on the passenger side.  It doesn’t look like there’s a muffler attached to the header.

“I have been storing my fathers 1946 Willys hoping to one day restore it in his memory. Unfortunately, with the present economy I am not working and can’t afford the extra storage fee. It was last restored in 1989 so is in need of a facelift. It has a 350 small block with headers and custom built roll bar. If your a jeep lover you will be familiar with the Armstrong tires that it rolls on and the Warn wench that it has up front. Currentley, it is non-op and needs alittle TLC. It is very hard part with this vehicle so serious inquires only.”

V for Victory — Anthracite Rallies in 1942

• CATEGORIES: Features, Library Collections, War Images • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

In this image, a large number of jeeps have been parked on a baseball field.  The headlights display a V for victory. I searched for other pics or other information about these rallies, but didn’t stumble onto anything.

According to the Library of Congress, this is an Anthracite rally.  The Jeep headlights form V for victory at a night rally for Pennsylvania anthracite miners in Wilkes-Barre on September 29th, 1942. Similar rallies were held in other anthracite area cities from September 28th through October 1st 1942.
