Biscuit’s Back Seat Project

• CATEGORIES: Biscuit This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

With the kids coming up to visit, I wanted to add a backseat that would allow more than two people to go jeeping.  My goal was to combine the seat with a new tire carrier and have the entire unit easily installed and removed.  This current setup doesn’t allow for a tail gate; however, I don’t care about that right now.  In fact, I could create a back that is permanent with this unit at some later time if I wanted a tailgate.

So, here are some pics of the process:

I started with a couple brackets that bolted to each side of the rear portion of the roll cage that were connected by a heavy piece of angle iron (I have lots of heavy angle iron).

Next I bent a loop from some roll bar tube and then welded it to the angle iron (you can see that I needed to trim a bit from the bottom of the loop).  Then, I added a left and right arm that I attached to half-tubes which I clamped to the roll bar.  The loop leans backwards at the same angle as the front loop angle leans backwards.

The next step was to add an attachment for the rear tire carrier.  I welded a piece of tubing to the top of the loop and a bent piece of tubing to the angle iron.  In between, I welded a piece of rectangular tubing.

Then, I added a platform for the bottom of the seat.

After creating a template for the plate that will hold the spare tire, I cutout a piece of heavy metal, drilled three holes, inserted the studs, and welded them in place.  Then, I welded the plate onto the until.  Here, Karson is doing some spray painting.

Next, I added a strip of metal across the back loop so I could bolt on the back of the seat (made from wood).  The bottom is also wood and bolts in place.  Both still need to be padded.  The final pics below show the entire unit in place (though I have since painted the wood black and the strip across the back the color of the tubing).  This is nothing fancy and, though not as wide as I’d like, will meet my needs for now. And, we tested it out today and the kids love riding back there 🙂

1965 CJ-6 Luxemburg, Wi **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-6 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  This has already sold (was listed for $1100)

This seller meant to buy a CJ-5, but bought this by mistake (if I understand the ad correctly).

“1965 CJ6 F-134 Engine, 12-VOLT, T90 Transmission and Dana Transfer Case. This was just recently listed as a cj5. It is not, its a long frame. Below is what the last guy listed in his ad. I got it home and found out it was a long frame, I want a short one. I bought it and towed it home. It tows great with a 1/7/8 ball.

This jeep is being offered as a whole or for parts. This thing has cost me more money that I have the nerve to state.
It, for the 2nd time has stopped running. I have had the motor rebuilt twice. It is cursed and I want it gone! It has a brand new rebuild on the transmission, new rebuilt radiator, New Carter YF carberator. The body is rough. It took me 6mos. to find a 6volt starter as the lame mechanic in oshkosh that I first took it too, happened to misplace it (stole). I could take it to rawhide and write it off for $500 which I will do should I not piece it out. I have to get rid of this thing. It has cursed me for the last 4yrs. I could take it to the mechanic and have it rebuilt again, but I am so over it. Do have wisconsin title.

Call brian at 920-255-5596 if you want it. Lets deal, or if you know of a cj5 please let me know. I do not email or respond to them just call.”

(06/01/2010) This needs some work.

I have just completed a duplicate and the results are very impressive. Fun car to drive and turns a lot of heads. Newly rebuilt F-134 4 cylinder engine with 3 speed transmission. Engine is very strong and transmission is in good condition. Some rust in floor boards and rocker panels which are easily found online. All parts available to fully restore. Good tires, brakes stop but will need to be replaced. Includes convertible top and side curtains. Paint is passable but you will probably re-paint to complete this excellent project car. Too many projects and too little time. First $5,000 cash take it”

1942 Slat Grille MB Cloverdale, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: MB • TAGS: , , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

Nice Slattie!

“1942 Willy’s MB slat grill #109964.  DOD is:  1-8-42.  A 3-year frame off restoration was completed in June 2007.  This slat grill is used mostly for veteran related events, parades and car shows.  This is a popular and a favorite vehicle at shows and has won several awards.  It has been driven less than 1000 miles total.  I drive the jeep at least once every 2-3 weeks and keep it in good working condition.

The original tub was not useable but much care was taken to detail to make the new one as accurate as possible.  The slat has many of the original parts such as: brass data plates, frame, grill, split seam front seats, original back seat, steering wheel, column and steering box, short bodied distributor, “steel” marked pintal, “tiger eye” lenses, solid disc wheels, light assemblies, square shouldered footman loops, brake and clutch pedals, filterette, extinguisher and brackets, many TR20/EC/A/AA bolts and the list goes on ….”
