1952 M-38 Wenatchee, Wa $1300

There might be some value here.

“Needs work. Body needs welding due to cracks but is restorable. Unfortunately it has a 302 in it and saginaw steering. And the emergency brake was cut out of the dash. Missing the plate for the dash guage cluster, but guages are there. has the 24 volt hatch on the cowl. I took off the old fenders that were wrong as was the grille. So the ones on it now are correct. But due to the V-8 the radiator will not fit unless you cut the shroud and I could not bring my self to do that. Engine has been started before radiator was removed so I know it runs. But the brake master cylinder needs rebuilt. With those correct and some spot welding of the body it would be road ready. The cracks are from someone that apparently did not know how to weld so they repaired the cracks in the body with fiberglass and bondo which made them worse, but fixable. Top is a actual M38 top and will fit a 3A. Top alone is worth $400 or more and has the doors inside. Seats has legs cut to extend for some tall dude. But can be repaired or put 3A seats in since they are the same. This is basically a military version of a 3A. Has floating rear axles which are sought after. The price is less than what I have into it. have too many jeeps so If you have a L head that has been rebuilt and has all the papers I may consider a trade. If you don’t want the 302 and want to pull it I will swap with a 4 cylinder L head that needs rebuilt but is not a M38 engine. Also may consider a newer utility trailer with sides and ramp for my wide model ATV. Has to be wider than a cargo trailer since mine is to narrow to haul it. Also have other 40’s jeeps that I am selling. They are also projects. I am just too tired to put all these and the other project together. Would hate to see it but with the rear end and engine this would make a good rock crawler. Also have a Buick 225 that I bought rebuilt and have clutch kit still in the box for sale.”

1946 CJ-2A Canyon County, Ca eBay

This *might* have an interesting history.  Someone mentioned to me (I can’t remember who) that either Roy or his museum had several Jeeps, so this very well could be one of those.  It looks like it had very little use.  Just look at how nice the front frame rail and bumper looks.

“This is a relatively unmodified Jeep that runs and drives with relatively no known major mechanical defects. See notes below.

98% Rust free Southern California Jeep. Still has six-volt electrical system and all original brake components. I’ve owned this Jeep about 8 years and it has been used as a parade Jeep in a local July 4th parade as well as Christmas light tours.

The previous owner said the Jeep was owned by the movie studios in the 1970s and may have been one of three Jeeps used on the Roy Rogers show. I was told that they used 3 Jeeps – the original NelleBelle, a stunt Jeep and a long distance shot Jeep. Supposedly this was the long distance Jeep. I have never been able to verify these facts,  however, at some point it was pained light gray exactly like NelleBelle. Remember TV was black and white then.

It currently has 15 inch wheels but I’m including 5 sand-blasted 16 inch original Willys’ wheels and some reproduction tail lights.

Positive aspects:
• Frame is 100% original with straight uncut frame horns on the front.
• Exterior body panels straight with no rust out.
• This Jeeps starts up and runs and drives.
• Excellent collector Jeep that can be easily restored.

The following items are not original Jeep parts:
• Tail lights
• Wheels
• Mirror
• Some gauges
• Seat cushions

Known defects:
• The engine has a deep growling noise. It does not seem to be a rod bearing or anything like that. With the fan belt disconnected, the noise is still there. I have no idea what the noise is. it is inside the engine.
• The Dualamatic Overdrive has severe gear noise.
• The passenger side rear wheel well was poorly repaired at some point.
• Minor oil leaks.
• Channel under passenger side floor has some rust-through.
• Radio cut out in dash
• Tail light cut-outs”

1952 M-38 Body Monterey, CA $500

• CATEGORIES: M-38 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

No pics provided.

“For sale is an original 1952 M38 military tub (main body) with the front fenders, all restorable. The tub needs work but isn’t that hard to bring back to life. The fenders especially are in good shape, especially for their age. This was the “last of the flatfender” Jeeps, similar to the CJ3A civilian version but military instead. the M38 had a tailgate as standard, but no tailgate is included with the tub. Ther are some extra M38 items I have I won’t be needing but I’m perfectly willing to include with the sale of the tub. I need some of my hangar space back. The tub and its bits will fit in a good-sized pickup truck; it fits fine in my 1989 Ford F250 (which is also for sale, price on request if interested). Call 831 372 9215 for more details.  Photos on request.”

Mark’s Rear Seat Solution for his Jeepster

• CATEGORIES: Builds, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Mark recently hit the 1 year anniversary with “Her Royal Highness” (That would be his Jeepster, not his wife).   He’s been updating her throughout the year.  Here he comments on his rear seat find.

Mark writes, “Halloween night marks the end of Year one for the 49 Jeepster I named “Her Royal Highness”. I’m a middle-age crazy rookie that knew very little about rebuilding an auto when I started (some strong arguments that I still don’t) [ed note: some days, I don’t feel to smart either!]. I decided to leave the aged patina Windsor green paint for now because there’s very little rust and it doesn’t look that bad. She’s a great runner and a fine Sunday truck.

I wanted to put in tan leather buckets to improve comfort and to be able to call her the original “King Ranch Willys”. A few days ago I saw an ad for 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse seats, ‘$20 bucks and wife wants them out of my garage’. So, I went over to check out the seats. I discovered the buckets were trash, but the back was practically new. I bought it and carted it home.

Wouldn’t you know, that back seat fit into the back of the Jeepster like it always belonged! A couple of cleats, some zip ties, a little leather remnant from the fabric store over some 3/8″ ply and here you go. The seat backs fit on the original back frame with a little ingenuity. Folded down it makes for a convenient map table. The front buckets are still in my cross hairs and they will be found eventually, but who knew that backseat would fit so nicely, 50 years later!”

Here’s a reminder of “Her Royal Highness”

Here’s what it looks like with no seat:
