1948 CJ-2A Soap Lake, Wa $2950

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Price dropped to $2950.

(11/29/2010) This appears to have the original chrome rimmed tail lights (an upgrade option from the stock driver’s side only tail light).

“Nice straight Willys CJ2A with the split front windshield. About as original as you will find with the flat head 4 cylinder engine. I have gone through alot of the mechanics and it starts and runs great. I have replaced the fuel tank, radiator, seat frames and seats and it has a newer soft top. The body is in fair condition and does have some rust and Bondo. The floors are all solid. This Jeep would make a good hunting rig or could be restored.

Please call Shawn at (509) 346-3212 for more information.”

Identifying A Strange Looking Engine Block

• CATEGORIES: Engine, Features, How To This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Brian wrote me asking if I knew what type of engine this was.  He pulled it out of a old WWII Jeep and didn’t recognize it.  He wrote that the Head cast was #634816 and the block casting#630282. In particular, he noted the exposed cylinder tubes.

I told him I didn’t know what it was, and confessed that I had never worked with any MB/GPW motors, but I would do my best to figure it out (I do enjoy a good internet hunt). After searching through various images I could see it was similar to a MB and GPW motor, but was also different.

For example, you can see examples of GPW heads here at Dino’s site and though it looks similar, it’s missing various features.  Here is an example of MB block.  In fact, if you go here, you can review all kinds of WWII engines.

After trying various keyword images searches, I tried typing in the casting numbers and that is when I discovered that the head was a pre war head from a Willys Model 37. So, then I looked at prewar Willys.  On this page http://clubs.hemmings.com/clubsites/wocv/willywilly/willywilly.htm on the fourth pic down, you can just make out, just below the distributor, similar indentations on a 1938 Willys.  Here is a better look at a prewar block.

1945 VEC CJ-2A Mukwonago, Wi **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1500.

Here’s a VEC #11500 for sale over at the CJ2A Page (Thanks Bill).

This Jeep has no title.  The transmission was switched to a later floor shift version.  The transfer case may, or may not be original, the early style 4-rib park brake drum is present.
The engine is not the original chain engine, but it is a low serial number CJ-2A 33843, it looks like an early 1946 engine in it.

1969 CJ-5 Georgetown, Tx $300

• CATEGORIES: CJ5 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

There looks to be $300 in value here.

“We have a 1969 CJ5 jeep with a straight 6 cylinder with a 3 speed manual, 4X4 with manual locking hubs.
This is a perfect jeep for someone who wants some parts or wants to completely rebuild and have a great restored fun to drive 4×4. (We do not have a windshield for it – lost in one of the moves.)
This was a running working jeep on our ranch and over time it started needing work then just got parked and forgotten, then we wanted to do a complete restoration on it and really never got started on it, now we just need to sell it, and let someone else add the TLC and then be able to appreciate it.
We are asking $300.00, please contact us via email and we can set a time for you to come look at it. ”
