Buying Tips
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. As this has f-head how does this fit and the others leave a big ugly hump when installed.
Correction, “has a f-head”
Looks like they got around the hood bump by running an open carb with no air cleaner.
Ouch, that won’t do the engine any good in the long term…..
Marc . . . Mike is right. Also, you can install a f-head with a holley 1908 ‘horizontal’ carb that will allow the engine to fit and use an air cleaner.
Saw an F-head on ewillys a while back that had a custom intake manifold that looked like an “S” hook, with the carb mounted below the top of the engine and the intake pipe going up and attached to the intake on the head. Looked pretty slick and easy to do. You could run a stock carb and air cleaner that way.
