Ford GP Cowl eBay

Not sure how useful this is, but here it is.

“Here’s a nice bulkhead for a GP.  I know a lot of the panels are reproduced but you need the cowl section in order to have a complete tub.  This piece is in excellent condition with only a couple of holes for extra gauges that can be easily patched.  It’s not often you find this piece up for sale.  Pick up preferred unless you make your own shipping arrangements.”

Runs race gas, not pump gas.

“Radicall 48 willys truck, bed halved and shortend, roof cut flat, 500+hp 355 small block, very fast! Running 3″ race pipes so is very loud would require mufflers for everyday street use. Runs105 or preferably 110 race gas NOT PUMP GAS, but readily available. Could be rejetted and detuned but with 11 to 1 compression would not run well and would gas ping bad on pump gas you buy. Selling due to age and health its a young mans toy but not a teenager, maybe a father son hobby. Inside is all buisness full gauges an tach. No heat no ac. Turbo 350 with shift kit and stall converter, rockwell posi rear. Hurst vertigate shifter. Have stock rear fenders would require modifacation to fit bed, extra doors an hood. NO FREE RIDES with this one so cash and we can go from there. Might take partial trade on somthing interesting project ok but must run an drive. Tons of fun you wont park next to another one at strip or rod meet!”

For Sale is a amazing shape 1951 Willys CJ3a, 63,500 Documented Miles. She has a Arizona “A” title. (for you non Arizonians, this means documented, never lost or adjusted). This Willys was restored (I’m guessing in the 80’s) seems like a frame off and there was sooo many parts that were chromed! Sometime after the restoration the trans and transfer case was cracked and it was parked for many years. The original L134 runs great and now has a new and freshly rebuilt T-90 transmission with a new clutch and pressure plate. A 1947 Spicer 18 transfer case replaced the old cracked one. A new parking brake assembly was also installed. There are 5 chrome Mod wheels (has some rust) with 5 BRAND new 31×10.50×15 radials.

The body is in amazing shape, showing a faded metallic grey paint over the original green paint. The “top hats” or c-channels are all rust free and NO RUST floors. The pictures show only surface rust on SOLID floors. Even the tool box is solid! There was a lot of chroming done during the original resto. Including bumpers, roll bar, shifters, shifter boot rings, diff covers, shackles, latches, hinges, soft top parts, Custom lower rocker and quarter trim, you name it! it was chromed! She also has a tow bar and a bikini top!

1947 Armored Ford Truck Colorado **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Other 4x4s This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on $4700.

Nothing to do with jeeps and not a 4×4, but I thought this Ford Armored F-3 truck was pretty unusual.

1947-ford-truck-armored-colorado1 1947-ford-truck-armored-colorado2

What we have here is a piece of history from perhaps the last days of the “old” west.

This is a postwar, 1947 Ford F-3 armored pickup truck. This is not a conversion or an adaptation, this is a purpose-built armored pickup for hauling something very valuable, though we are not sure exactly what.

The entire cab and doors are wrapped in 1/4″ steel plate. All windows are 5-ply glass measuring over an inch thick each. There are four pistol ports to fend off would-be thieves, and the only way inside the cab is via key – no handles or buttons. There are even instructions posted inside concerning truck rules and the behavior of its operators.

Our first guess is that this truck was used to haul lock-boxes of ore from one of the many mines around the region. The F-3 (1+ ton) designation and the utterly massive stack of spring leaves would indicate that whatever was being hauled was very heavy. And a lack of a tailgate suggests that whatever was being loaded or unloaded was done so via crane.

Our second guess is that it had something to do with the mint and the things of value both coming and going to that location. Denver has had an operating mint since 1906.

Construction is first-rate. The bumpers, bed, and even the rear fenders are made from extremely thick and heavy steel, and much time was put into the craftmanship. Gas welding is done to a very high standard.

Finally, GVW and other markings on the bedsides show that the truck was a part of a “Denver Unit” at some point. What unit – we do not know.

This truck has been sitting in a local collector’s care for the last ten years, and he finally has let it go. Last tagged in 1973. This is an opportunity to own a unique piece of wild-west history.

Condition of the truck is typical of Colorado vehicles – mostly dry, and little rust. There is some rust in the fenders and lower valance. And the floor of the bed shows some rot. Otherwise the truck is extremely solid, and has nothing but surface rust.

The original flathead-8 is long gone but the transmission remains, as does most of the rest of the mechanicals. Sadly the steering column was pinched at some point.

The truck rolls and moves easily.

$4700 or reasonable offer on this unique piece. In twenty years of buying and selling vintage vehicles, I have never had anything like this… everyone wants to talk about this truck!!!

63 photographs of the truck can be seen here:
