1949 CJ-3A Katy, TX **Status Unknown**

UPDATE: **Status Unknown** Was No Price.

Sounds like it has been disassembled.

This is a 1949 CJ3A that I bought about 5 years ago for $600. I saw it sitting in someone’s backyard and made them an offer. I have pictures of when I found it and pictures of it at home in my drive way. Over the next two years after I bought it I started stripping it down to perform a frame off restoration. I was not able to finish the project and now I have the entire jeep you see in the picture in 500 pieces in my garage. It has the L-134 inline 4 cylinder motor, T-90 transmission, Dana 18 transfer case, front axle Dana 25 and rear axle Dana 44. Everything is original to the jeep. I do have a clear title for the vehicle. Best offer and a trailer takes her home. I could possibly deliver all the parts as long as you are within a reasonable distance of my house.”

1946 CJ-2A Payette, ID **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3500.

Doesn’t run.

My uncle owned this Jeep for about 10 years and used it once a year to go from Payette to his cabin out of Council hunting. He then bought a Bronco and parked the Jeep. I bought it from him about 1978 and used it for hunting for about 6 years. Then I bought a pick up. When I got the Jeep I put new tie-rod ends in it and ball joints. It had some broken teeth on the ring gear so I pulled the motor and pressed on a new ring gear. While I had the motor out I went ahead and put in a new clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. I had got this done and was starting to hook up the clutch and adjust it when I had to go to work out of the area for a few years. I parked the Jeep with the idea that I would get back to it but never have. For a number of years I would pull the plugs and put oil in the cylinder and turn it over at least once a year but have not done that for a several years. I have lost the only key I had so I put some oil in the cylinders and jumped the starter and it turn over good a couple weeks ago but have not started it. It all original except it is now 12 volts instead of 6 and someone has replace the tail gate with a solid piece of metal.”

UPDATE: Steve let me know that the US Border Patrol Museum has an updated website with more photos. Below are a few historical photos. You can view more historical photos (with cars, jeeps, horses and more) here.

ORIGINAL POST 07/27/2012:

1. A cold day for guarding the boarder.us-border-patrol-museum

2.  Border Patrol Inspector observing sign of possible illegal border crossers encountered while on Jeep patrol duty near Del Rio, Texas – March 9, 1956:

3. High lookout point overlooking the Rio Grande River, June 29, 1961. [Location is still used to overlook Rio Grande River.]

This is the CJ-2A displayed in the Museum. It looks a little green in this picture, but it’s actually more gray in person.

Tim was at the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance in Lexington, Kentucky, this past weekend. He reports that despite a rainy day, they had a good turnout, including 10 jeeps in the jeep area. Here are some photos he took.

1949 Photo of Joe Jackson in his Jeep Wagon on eBay

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old Images, Willys Wagons • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

The photo of Joe Jackson, Jr., below was published in several different newspapers based on this google search.  He must have had a very loving wife to live in a jeep while touring Europe!

According to the article, “Joe is wearing a 64-year-old clown costume that belonged to his late father as he tries out the jeep station wagon he will use for touring Europe. Joe, who carries on a comedy act originated by his father, will use the station wagon for a dressing room and living quarters with his wife.”

1950 Photo of Jeep Junkyard in Okinawa on eBay

I was debating whether this was a cropped version of Carl Mydan’s Life Magazine photo (seen here at Alex’s Tahiti Pacifique site) or a different photo. I am leaning towards it being a different photo as the angle seems a little higher on this one.
