Dave, I think you’re right. Looks like exaust. Check out that side mirror, he must tow with this baby…this jeep actually looks pretty solid though.
I guess it got tight with that small block. That side mirror looks terrible.
If it really is a Ford 292, it is a Y block from the 50s. They had a crossover exhaust in front of the engine, going over the top. I can see him splitting it into dual exhaust and routing it out through the front fenders like this. I wish we had a pic of the engine.
