“I bought someone else’s stalled work in progress several years ago as a 2nd undertaking for me and my son. My boy’s attending college now, so our second Jeep isn’t going to happen. The guy who had the ’42 before us did quite a bit of work on the rolling chassis and tub, but otherwise just bought and stockpiled new parts.
THE BAD — Easier to list what’s not in the “basket” than what is:
• Doesn’t have center data plate or frame tag
• No inner windshield frame
• No instruments other than a fuel gauge
• No radiator, top bows, or distributor..

Very much a project.
“1946 Jeep Willy’s project. Motor(L-134), trans(T-90) and transfer case(dana spicer 18) is good. Currently putting all new seals and bearings in transmission and transfer case. Was running when I started taking it apart for a restoration. Drivetrain/ Engine is stripped of rust/dirt and painted. I have old body that could be reused but is in rough shape. Frame is in good shape, needs cleaned up. I do not have a title, can give bill of sale. I have alot of time and money into this, I know I’ll never get that out of it but I’m not giving it away. Please make reasonable offer. Dont need to sell, just have other projects i would rather put the money into. Great father and son project, easy to work on and best of all… Most of the hard work is done! Theres all yhe information yiu could ever want online. Possible trade fir hunting items or dirtbike/enduro, must be worth what im asking if not more.”
UPDATE: Still Available
(05/27/2014) It’s a project.
“Here is a 1948 willy jeep in pieces. I have everything except the windshield and original seats. The motor is a military boat motor, don’t know if it runs or not. Someone started to make the jeep into a river rat and stopped. The body is a typical willys jeep body. Had a good grille, tailgate, hood. New gas tank, good radiator. Everyone has their own opinions about condition, if you are curious come look at it. The jeep is in average to below average shape for one sitting outside all its life. I do have some spare parts. I also HAVE a TITLE.”

According to ABC News, Sydney mechanic Gary Moore and his dog Sasha will spend more than a year traveling around Australian in a 1942 MB. His trailer looks pretty early, too.

“1953 Willys Jeep CJ3A. I think i am the third owner. I have owned it for 23 years or so. It has less than 500 miles on a frame off rebuild. Rebuilt running gear, suspension, steering, steering box and column, oversized brakes, drums and wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and new brake lines. Rodded original radiator, installed overflow tank. Rebuilt Harrison heater and rodded core. Installed 12 volt 3 wire alternator, totlal rewire of vehicle, rebuilt starter motor, converted all lights and guages to 12 volt, and installed fuse strip. Has roll cage, Lincoln electric bucket seats (but have originals, see photo) fold and tuck rear seat. Has full soft top and doors, bikini top and 5 new tires and wheels. Original scripted metal body, fenders and hood. No dents (to speak of). I did not repaint body, because my wife would not want it “scratched”. Has been garaged with all 3 owners. I have all receipts and many of the old parts that were replaced. Willys listed these as a “1/4 ton truck”.”
