This March 1956 from Willys News details the story of how a huge payload led to the sail of a jeep.
I’d wager that this truck probably lasted only a few years in the corrosive anthracite coal mining environment before it succumbed to fatal rust out. My nephew, who works in a coal operation about 5 miles from Hazleton, reports having to replace the floors on his 10 year old Ford F-150, which is parked in the coal mine’s parking lot (gravel with coal dust that migrates to the area as mine trucks drive through it) five days a week. And that’s a modern undercoated-at-the-factory truck!
