Alex shared this photo taken on the atoll of Tureia (Tuamotu archipelago) in 1966 during the French nuclear tests south of Tahiti. It’a Hotchkiss Willys M201.
This 1943 article from the Milwaukee Journal described the fight against mosquitoes. There are more non-jeep photos in the article.
This 1955 Toledo Blade article shares the news that jeeps were being sent to Mexico to fight Malaria. Looks like that’s a CJ-3B.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000.
This appears to have a Sears Deluxe Full Top. Looks like a good price.
“Selling a 1964 Willy’s Jeep CJ-5. Appears to be all original. 134 cu. in. “F” head 4 cyl engine.
T-90 3-spd transmission. Model 27 front axle. Model 44 rear axle. Spicer 18 transfer case.
Comes with a period correct ALUMINUM hardtop with doors. I’ve seen the top alone sell for $1200.00. Speedometer shows 59,971 miles which may change, as I drive it occasionally. Starts good, runs good and stops good. Clean title. Currently licensed and insured. It has a lot of new parts.
New front seats, complete new, correct exhaust from manifold back. New fuel tank, fuel sending unit, fuel line to the fuel pump, fuel filter and carburetor. New spark plugs and plug wires. Also installed a new correct oil filter/canister. It comes with 5 matching Goodyear 30 x 9.50-15 tires. The spare has never been on the ground. Five matching wheels with chrome lug nuts. 4 wheel drive works.
Speedometer and all lights work. It was already converted to 12v when I got it. It has a tow bar mounted to the front bumper. No rust. Call or text with questions or to arrange a test drive.”
Looks solid.
“Throwing around the idea of selling my 2A and building another one. Not dying to sell, leave low ball offers at home. Ill just keep it if I don’t get what I need out of her. Tons of fun. Scratches all over paint (its a jeep). Currently needs throttle cable but I will replace that as soon as I get time. Has soft top, heater, brand new tires, pinto motor, tow bar, new charging system, fuel tank, rear end has less than 150 miles on it. Resto done about 5 years ago. Clear title. Might consider muscle car or rock crawler trades.”
UPDATE: This was listed at no price. Now it’s $15,000.
“Here it is! An original, unrestored 1952 Willys M38 Jeep that has been in a heated garage basement since the late 1950’s. My late uncle purchased this Jeep and stored it correctly in a heated basement garage, only 5′ from the furnace that heated the house. Clean title. Engine turns very nice. All fuel lines were blown out and the engine was fogged. I am confident this M38 will run with very little work. Original Mag/Blue Crown plugs…ORIGINAL! Not an easy to find item. Unrestored and complete! Includes, two military generators, spare tires and wheels, ammo/tool/parts boxes, fuel cans, rebuild parts/gaskets etc for the engine and a NOS battery that is still in it’s original box. Lots of patina Original Handbook. Serial # 52870. Model M38. Manufacture date 2/1952. Once in a lifetime opportunity…. $15,000 firm..”
Looks like there’s value here. Has Cali title.
“41-48 willies flat fender jeep. No motor. But has trans and transfer. Clear California. Title. Good floor pans. Very minimal rust.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1400.

(11/29/2015) Listed as a 1956, this very well could have been a Surrey, but not in 1956. For example, note the footman loops on the fenders.
