This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. (01/19/2016) Needs some repairs. Looks like a lightweight glass body similar to my first jeep.

“1955 Willys Jeep Model M38 (military issue) Vehicle ID Number 84873. This Jeep was restored in the early 1990’s and has about 1,800 miles on it since restoration. Vehicle has the following features; 1. Dark Green Metal Fleck Paint 2. New Lock-out Hubs ( 4-wheel driv works fine) 3. Cragar Mag Wheels (5) with Safety Locks 4. Five all weather tires ( like new) 5. Doors ( never been installed) 6. Ramsey Rep 6000 Winch ( like new) 7. All gauges work except gas gauge ( comes with attached spare gas can) 8. Seats 4 with seat belts 9. Safety Roll Bar 10. Heater 11. Rubber Floor Mats 12. Many Chrome Parts 13. Original Military Instruction Plaques. 14. Safety Fire Extinguisher 15 Stored in Heated Garage since restoration”

(12/20/2015) It’s a project.
“For Sale or Trade: This is a WWII GPW Ford Script Jeep manufactured on May 11, 1942 with a low production number. It has survived with it’s serial number and instruction plates still intact and will have a clean Kentucky Classic Car title. We just pulled it out of the weeds and don’t have it cleaned out yet, so I’m not sure what parts are there or if the serial numbers match. It does roll and steer and seems pretty solid. There is body damage just below the “Ford” script area, but I believe a good sheet metal fabricator could repair it. The metal is basically solid all around the tub. The floor pans are bad, I would say. As you can see in the pictures, there are small “fender skirts” over the rear wheels. These are very solid and appear to be factory but could be an add on. The dash and instrument gauges are intact and look pretty good. I’ll add more info and upgrade the pictures when we get it cleaned up. Asking $1450 for this unusual find…..Would love to see this rare piece of U.S. military history from the Great Generation restored to its war-time glory and rolling down Main Street America in a 4th of July parade!”

“For sale or trade: 1947 Willys 4WD CJ-2A project Jeep. Its original flathead 4 cylinder engine appears to be locked up as it has been sitting for over 30 years. It rolls and steers. I took out the drive shaft as the gear shift seems to be stuck. Previous owner of 30+ years believes it was a Navy Jeep. Lots of sheet metal rust so check out the photos carefully. Frame appears to be solid. Have clear Kentucky title. Asking $1200 obo. Note: a replacement 4cyl flathead engine may be available.”
