Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Gayland recently visited the U.S. Army’s Transportation Museum at Joint Base Langley-Eustis and shared these photos. Ann and I drove right past there, but didn’t have time to stop. I will have to visit there the next time I’m visiting my cousin in Virginia.

UPDATE: Listed as a 1958, John pointed out that ti’s got a 1951 gauge cluster. Maybe a delivery body on a later chassis?
Has a government plate. Given the 4WD, possibly an ex utility ambulance or civil defense unit?

“What you are looking at is an original CJ3A 1950 Willys Jeep. The Jeep is very complete and the engine is not stuck. I removed the head and inspected the cylinders and valves and they looked great. Then i installed a new head gasket properly sequenced and torqued. I don’t think it would take much to get this Jeep back going. I’m selling this Jeep for someone that has a new house and decided he doesn’t have the time for it.”
