Ford GP at the Military Air Museum in Pungo, VA

John stopped by the Military Air Museum in Pungo, Virginia, the other day. There he found this nicely restored Ford GP. I asked him how he liked the museum. HIs response was,

“Dave, The whole facility is extraordinary! Two surprises, 1) a hanger from Cottbus, Germany, was found intact but damaged. The guy bought it, had it disassembled, shipped to the states and restored and reassembled. Every thing inside is German with one Italian with some of the stuff experimental.
2) Same for a British control tower, every brick was shipped here, rebuilt, and what was broken or missing was replaced from Britain, not the States.“

UPDATE: This was posted on Craigslist, but the ad expired. When I find out which junkyard it was, I’ll update this post.

“We are parting these vehicles out.They are just one of the thousands of cars,trucks,vans,motorcycles,busses,and service vehicles that we have on our property to part out.We have almost 8,000 vehicles spread out over 100 acres,some going back to the 1920’s.We are open Monday through Friday 8 AM til 5 PM and Saturdays til 12:30.Parts on these are going so fast that the pictures are already out of date.”

A M170 is a M38A1 which has been stretched 20″ to carry 3 stretchers. Made from 1953-1963. Basically a Military version of a CJ6. Only 4000 something were produced and only a couple hundred known to survive. Includes a bunch of parts which some are NOS that are not mentioned. 1955 Willy’s M170 body, 1960 M170 body and rolling chassis and a 1961 M38A1 rolling parts chassis winch includes engine, trans and t-case. Decided to move on to another project that I can enjoy more. Asking $3500 and NO TRADES.”
