This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.

Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. On Thursday Dec 5th I fly to Richmond, Virginia. I’ll be there (Chester area) through Saturday the 14th doing some work on my cousin’s house. If anyone isn’t too far from there, I may have time to drop by and say hello. I won’t have Ann with me (I’m pretty sure she’s more popular with folks at this point than I), but I might bring my cousin with me (she’s a good substitute for Ann).

Bob’s Sales & Service of Clare, Michigan, ran several different jeep ads between 1946 and 1948.
This ad was for a 1″-scale model jeep that measured 11″ when built. West-Craft also offered 1/2″-scale model jeeps for sale, too. I’ve got a few unbuilt 1940s models, but no West-Craft ones.

The front frame rails have been patched and the grille is from a CJ-2A, so I can’t tell if this is an M-38 or an M-38 body on a CJ-2A chassis.

(08/24/2019) Scott’s got this M-170 for sale.
“1955 JEEP M170 This is a rare bird – rebuilt and in solid shape. As I understand this is a long body M38A1 army jeep and was originally outfitted as troop hauler, radio jeep, or ambulance/medical. May be the early inspiration for the CJ8 Scrambler. Engine rebuilt in 2012. I converted from 24 volt to 12 volt with new starter, alternater, wiring harness, fuse box, head and tail lights, etc. Also has rebuilt carburetor, new fuel pump, lines, fuel filter, steering wheel, horn, new set of tires, rebuilt emergency brake.
Comes with a big winch with remote, tow arms, and a box of random parts (can probably sell on eBay). Seats are new and all have lap belts. Runs, steers, brakes good. Ready for neighborhood drive with kids, grandkids. It does have cracked windshield, but easy to buy kit/replace. Its a rare one and priced to go – so no low ballers please. Clean title.”
It’s former Civil Air Patrol complete with number and logo.

It’s a 3A based on the transmission cross member setup.

Listed as a 1953, the serial number indicates this was manufactured in late 1950. There is some rust in the hat channels and floor.

“I am selling my used/rebuilt Willys Jeep CJ-3A. I purchased this out of Texas a year or so ago, registered and titled it, but never seem to have the time to use it. Too many projects, not enough time so it’s time to let it go (selling all my CJ items).
This is a very nice rebuilt CJ-3A, which was mechanically gone thru as well as new paint. It is not perfect and the original tub was re-used without any work done to it that I can tell (i.e. dents, holes, etc still there); previous owner liked the proverbial “patina” of it. Starts, runs, drives, and stops; I haven’t used it in over a year, so brought it out of storage.
