• CATEGORIES: Parts This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $200.

Blaine spotted this Ford-302-to-T90 setup.

Yakima Ridgerunners Belt Buckle

I bought this unusual Yakima Ridgerunners Belt Buckle off of eBay. Whether the club was the first club or not is debatable, as clubs formed early in Southern California, too, but it seems my research indicated the club was the first incorporated jeep club.

1942 Photo of Jeep & Carless Tuesday on eBay

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old Images This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Steve spotted this photo that included a Ford GPW. This photo and its accompanying article was picked up and published in newspapers across the country. Carless Tuesdays was an attempt in 1942 by Peoria to save rubber by encouraging folks with odd-numbered license plates to live their vehicles at home on Tuesdays.

“7.5 x 9.25 in fair condition with average wear and tear of handling.
PEORIA, ILL., NOV. 24–‘CAR-LESS TUESDAY’ GETS TRIAL–Peoria’s so-called “Car-Less Tuesday” doesn’t worry Arthur Locker (left), who uses his children’s shetland pony and cart to drive downtown today with G.A. Louthan (right). Derby hats and lap robe give pre-auto era atmosphere. Jeep proves contrast in rubber-saving traffic experience to see if workers can get to jobs with many cars “at rest.” ”

Unclear if this mostly MB/GPW or not.

“Willys Jeep
World War 2
Jeep is titled at a 1950

Was purchased from an estate after the previous owner had passed. He had a few jeeps in his collection.

I purchased this car non running with a seized motor. The Jeep now runs and idles smoothly. It is still a project that needs a lot more work but I did the difficult parts of getting it back up and running.

For the next owner you will need to take care of the brakes before any serious driving can happen. Master definitely needs to be replaced.

Car is in WEST LA. Can be shown Monday – Friday 10-6 and weekends by appointment.

Title in hand.”

“This is a running, clear titled, antique plated, 1954 Willys M170 Jeep Ambulance. This jeep is a good running machine that would be fun for parade or reenactment use. The red cross marked canvas is included. Has a WORKING SIREN. This is a turn key, ready to drive vintage military jeep. This was always a hit in the 4th of July in my town. The M170 Jeep was used as a front line ambulance by the army in the 1950s and 1960s and the Marine Corp used the M170 as a troop hauler and communications vehicle because of the extended body. Only approximately 6,000 M170 Jeeps were made, making this a tougher to find variation antique military jeep. Please ask all questions before you bid. Local Pick-Up Only. Cash or Money Order at Pick-Up or Check will be given 10 Days to Clear.”

Tom spotted this jeep. It has some hat channel rust, but looks like a good restoration candidate.

There sure is a lot to like here, especially that hardtop, which looks to be a Koenig Super Cab model 550 with the optional vertical doors in the rear (see other Koenig brochures here).

“This is a unicorn. This little green gem has around 36k miles on it. Nothing is rusted out. It is mostly all original from what I can see.
Runs good
The rare hard top is in amazing shape with keys to lock doors.
Still has the 6v system and has cloth wiring. You will not find another cj3b in this shape that has not been restored..”
