(09/21/2022) Thanks to Tom for spotting this M-170.
“As it sets when I parked it. No gas tank. 24VDC”
It’s been a busy week and a half. Mitch Carter stopped by for a ride around the property in the tour jeep early last week, then Marty Tilford came by for a ride yesterday. We sure can’t wait to get this on the road so we can give proper rides!
Somehow, I never got photos of them in the FC (probably because I was driving). However, I did find a photo of what I think is our FC on eBay (I bought the slide).
I took a break from the race jeep to build these three 8′ planters for Ann. The sides are built from 60-year-old cedar that my parents used to wall their kitchen in the mid-1960s. They pulled it down during a remodel circa 1995 and kept it until I grabbed it after mom passed. I know she’d be happy we were able to put the wood to good use.
Bill shared this modified GPW.

“1945 Ford GPW 1/4 Ton Utility. Ford 302 V8 engine, 4 speed manual transmission, 4X4, power steering, power front disc brakes, Unilite Electronic Ignition, Dual Brake Boosters. Wheel base extended from original with longer frame. Vintage metal removable hardtop with locking doors. Front window defroster heater/fan. Engine was professionally built and has low miles (approx. 1500). Two-Barrel Holley Carburetor with manual choke. Starts and runs well. Interior has a full roll bar. Includes a nice heavy front duty tow bar. Also has a Smitty built Rear bumper/Spare tire rack. Locking hubs front and rear (rear hubs currently set non-functioning/fully engaged). Rear Differential rebuilt with new ring and pinion (est. 5000 miles ago). New full gauge set but electronic speedometer works off and on (listed mileage is since the engine rebuild, actual mileage is unknown). Will drive highway speeds with no issues (Drives like an 80’s CJ5 with a V8 power). Originally a Navy Sea Bee military vehicle. Has plenty of panache and public appeal whenever drove or shown.”
This runs and drives. Thanks to Andy for sharing.

Maury shared this nice looking CJ-5. The current bid price is $11,000 (with 6 days to go). The stripes are consistent with a 71/72, but an original 73 ought to have a different stripe style, shouldn’t it? Maybe it is a 72 titled as a 73? Here is a look at the Renegade stripes: http://www.ewillys.com/2013/08/20/renegade-stripes/

“This 1973 Jeep CJ-5 is said to have undergone a twelve-year refurbishment completed in 2021 that involved refinishing the exterior in yellow, re-trimming the interior in black vinyl, and installing a replacement 304ci V8 linked to a three-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. Equipment includes 15” wheels, manually locking front hubs, a dual exhaust system, a black soft top and doors, Renegade graphics, black wheel arch extensions, and a roll bar. Acquired by the seller in 2022, this CJ-5 is now offered in Nevada with service records and an Arizona title in the seller’s name.”
