This lift was listed on an unfinished project jeep forever for less. Too bad it wasn’t closer then it was a good deal for someone
I sent this ad to Ernie Klimek, whose family made the Stratton lift. Ernie worked in the shop as a kid. He likes to see pictures and he asked me to see if I could learn the history. Here is what I got from the seller:
From what I was told the jeep was made for the New Jersey highway department and used until 1965 when it was sold at auction to a gentleman named Tim Conway who used it on his family farm right outside of Sussex nj , he owned it for about 20 years then traded it to his brother Jeff, Jeff had it for about 5 years and in 1992 he sold it to the guy I bought it from who had it stored in his barn ” never got around to fixing the transmission ” which is why he parked it .
Ernie told me more about how some of the parts were built. I plan to add that to his story.
