Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Looking for USDA jeeps I found these two different plows used for fire fighting in the late 1940s/early 1950s.
The “V-shape plow” was featured in the August 1949 issue of Popular Mechanics:

Glenn spotted this replacement spare tire oak block isolation kit on eBay

This must not have been in the Sears Toy Catalog, because I would have circled this as a kid. It includes three jeeps!

According to the description, you can cast your own jeeps. No examples of how good (or poor) they are.
“ You are bidding on a Formex 7 casting set made by Emenee. This casting set is a create your own casting set featuring “Military Company” including soldiers, jeeps, and cannons. My research shows that this set dates back to 1964. This is a used set as the items are not in their original package and some of the molds have been used.”

Nice rig. No wonder I couldn’t figure out the color on this truck. It’s got a chameleon paint.

“I am selling this for my father. He doesn’t have a computer and is to the point where he cant see and hear well so I am doing this for him. I apologize up front if I don’t have all of the information for you. He bought this several years ago with the idea of rebuilding it to be just like the one he drove as a kid. He didn’t get that far on it. I actually just pulled it out of his garage, hosed it off and took the pictures. Nothing fancy here. It is a vehicle in need of complete restoration. He said he drove it in, so I know it ran/runs. The clutch works though I am sure they could use some attention to make the lever work better. I think he was working on the brakes when he stopped working on it. It needs all kinds of work on the body, lots of rust issues as you can see from the pictures. It looked to me like the frame has been repaired in places. He was talking about buying new fenders and body parts, I suppose they are available on line. The canvas is in decent shape, may be an issue with some of the clear plastic. The seats look decent. The rubber tires look average except for the one that is flat, it will need replacement. The inside of the bed will need to be straightened. It looks like it had somebody heavy stand on it and it dips just a bit over the underside frame, I don’t know if you can see it in the pictures. And some thing got on it and bubbled the paint there, but of course, it would need new paint everywhere. If you would like to see it, it is near Ft Campbell, KY.”
