Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Alex’s friend took this photo of a M-201 Hotchkiss. There are about ten of these in Tahiti that are leftover from the French nuclear test period. Only one or two are in running condition.

Has the area by the driver’s side step altered, but that’s no big deal. Looks like a good price. Possibly a former column shift?
“1946 Willy’s 4×4 Jeep. She runs but is old and tired. It was a barn find that I originally put a lot of tlc and money into but have gone on to other interests. So far, I have changed the gas tank, gages, head, fuel pump, carburetor, converted it to a 12v system, along with many other items to get it running and to restore the engine to its original state. The brakes are mush so it still needs some tlc. It’s been sitting for the last couple of years and I no longer have time for it. It looks like it was originally a column shift but has sometime along the way been converted to a floor shift. Please feel free to call if you have any questions.”

(01/07/2015) Looks to have a replacement body.
“Selling my long time project 1953 jeep. Almost everything is there to finish it off. Has a buick 231 v6 installed and all original running gear with the addition of a Atlas od. Comes with a centerforce flywheel but will need to be cleaned up. When I first got the jeep it had what looked like a newer body. Clean paperwork and was put on non op years ago. All it really needs is someone with some room and time to finish it off. I’ve got to let it go so bring all reasonable offers.”
