About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
(11/01/2010) This appears in great condition. I’m wondering if this is actually a CJ-3A.
“Jeep CJ2, Calif Yellow & Black Plates, Clear Title. Has original “Go Devil” Flathead 4 motor. A very clean Jeep with no dents or rust. Good Glass, Seat and Tires. Runs smoothly. I have only used this for parades and car shows (show & tell) It has not been beaten up off roading. ”
The front frame rails have been heavily reinforced. You gotta love that ‘hardtop’. Despite this, I think there’s some value
“Excellent running 4cyl converted to 12 volt 5ft plow, 4sp frame good would make nice plow truck also has 3 point hookup on rear, 16 inch tire with chains.”
Hard to say just how original this is from the one pic. However, the seats appear aftermarket and the grille may have been updated.
“I am selling my 1946 Willys CJ2A Jeep. All original drive train and body. Plus rare hard top with doors and Ramsey 9000 lb. PTO winch. Call or text Mac at 208-914-8279.”
(05/04/2011) “1946 WILLYS Jeep CJ2-A. Built for the dirt, but street legal.
COMPLETELY rebuilt from the ground up. Only 9,567 miles since rebuilt:
Chevrolet V-8 engine with Edelbrock manifold, off-road modified Holly 4-barrel carburetor and Holly electric fuel pump. Advanced Adapters headers with Thrush Turbo mufflers. Custom-made extra heavy-duty 4-row radiator.
Modified 4-speed Saginaw 1/2-ton truck transmission with Hurst shifter, Advanced Adapters silent gear kit in transfer case and a Warn overdrive. New drive shafts front & rear. Heavy-duty clutch.
Spicer model 44 rear end with Detroit Tru-Trak limited-slip differential and full-floating axles (just add locking hubs for free-wheel towing). 4WPW 11” rear drum and front disk brakes with 3/4-ton GM truck master cylinder.
Saginaw steering with U-joint linkage and GM tilt steering wheel. Rancho Suspension leaf springs with skid plates on U-bolts and Gabriel Adjustable ‘E’ shocks.
Armstrong Tru-Traction tires on DC white spoke wheels with locks on all lug bolts and spare tire. Skid plate covering the oil pan, transmission, transfer case and overdrive. New wiring throughout. Heavy-duty alternator. Stewart-Warner gauges.
Front double-wall fiberglass bucket seats with Superior competition-type seat belts and harnesses, rear bench seat with belts and integrated harnesses. Smittybilt full roll cage with side storage, 4D black soft top, AM/FM/cassette radio, CB, front tow bar, push bar and rear drawbar receiver (hitch). Comes with original manual.
The bad: has been stored for about the last 6 years; needs new battery; carburetor needs rebuilding kit due to gummed up gasoline; it has a CASSETTE radio.”
This needs work. This sounds like a nice project with some value. Curiously, there are no holes for the gauges. So, I’m not sure whether this is an aftermarket body or the holes were cleanly patched. This has already been converted to hanging pedals, too. I think that motor might have been rebuilt, judging by the cleanliness of it.
“I have a unfinish jeep up for sale. It has a V6 with 4 speed trany, tranfer case, and axle dana 44 with disk in front, amc 20 posi. I have the pink slip and it nonop.”
“Box job, complete 1947 CJ2A willys jeep mostly apart, with pinto 4 cyl. engine, extra bodies, frames, transmission, it has a metal half cab, and the original flat head 4 cyl. engine. I’m asking $1500.oo or OBO. Call 406-239-6367.”
This has been parked for 18 Years. Possibly a VEC Body.
“Was parked about 18 years ago due to: Leaking rear main seal, poor/no brakes, and finally a broken ignition wire. Has been waiting patiently for resto since. Early and rare tub with leftover war stampings with axe and shovel relief. Willys stamped hood, correct and original windshield frame, and tailgate. 12V. It wants a complete resto but could be going down the road without a huge effort. Rusted and patched up many time in the past 65 years… It will need trailerd home.
$2000 or similar trade for: Honda/Yamaha Utility 4 wheeler or Toyota 4×4 that is not beat and rusted away.”
The body is rough. The seller is a bit off on his windshield analysis.
“I have a 1948 Willys jeep for sale. This is the model with the P.T.O.. Mechanically its very good, body wise its rough. The motor, transmission, transfer case, front and rear ends have all been rebuilt and only used for snow plowing since. I have the orignal 1948 plow too. The windshield is from a 1950. This was a upgrade at the time as the 48 had a split windshield. I also have the frame for the orignal half top (comes down behind the seat so you can still use the box). There’s a box of extra parts that will go with it too. $1300. firm”
