Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Not sure the year, the pink slip shows model yr 1943 – year first sold 1947. It runs great has a 4 cyl. 3 speed trans, 31 inch tires. it looks great, it current on registration 5/10, needs new gas gauge and windshield wipers, other then that everything works, 3000.00 firm serious inqueries only, if interested I will email pics-having problems downloading,”
This has a very unusual roll bar.
“This jeep is a 1946 Willys Jeep with all original body. The jeep belongs to a family member, and I am selling it for them. The last time the motor was running was about 6 years ago. There was nothing wrong with the motor then, it just sat and was never started again. The jeep has been owned by the same person for the last 20 years (since march 14, 1989). When the jeep was purchased it had new tires put on it, and was freshly painted, the same tires are still on the jeep. When it was parked 6 years ago, it was parked in a barn. There were horses in the barn that could reach part of the jeep, they nibbled on the top and one of the seats, therefore we took the top off and threw it out. The jeep sat in the barn untill 3 years ago when it was moved outside, where it sits today. The odometer reads 00220, but does not work, actual mileage is unknown….”
This looks nice. It’s got a few mods. Note the handwinch in the last pic.
“1948 Willys Jeep CJ2A. The Jeep has been in dry New Mexico its entire life and is 99% rust free. The I purchased the Jeep in 1997 from an elderly gentleman here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He owned it since 1972, and he bought it from the original owner. I have many records with some registration records dating back to 1954. It has always been garaged, and is in excellent condition. I have updated/upgraded some of the features including: new top, roll cage, am/fm cassette mounted under the dash and speakers mounted under the rear seat, 12V electrical system, 11″ brakes, 2 1/2 inch Rancho lift, CV joint custom rear driveshaft …”

“Fires right up & runs/drives great. New tires, trans rebuilt, new clutch. I have a brand new (correct) COMPLETE windshield assy (minus glass, but w/all weatherstripping) and a brand new (correct) tailgate that will go with the sale. I also have NOS gauges, tail light, front markers. Clean title.
Also interested in trades, depending on what you’ve got. Car/truck/classic/Jeep/OHV – let me know & we’ll talk about it. Not interested in basket cases or projects with a long way to go though. (Trailer not included in sale). ”

This ad has the longest series of keywords that I have ever seen — longer than the Ad itself. That said, the jeep itself might be a reasonable price given it drives.
“i have for sale this 1948 jeep cj2a. it has a chevy 327 with all factory drive train other than that. it runs and drives has a high seat for hunting and has gun racks and it has a brush guard on front and a removable deer rack on rear . it is a 3 speed (t90) with a twin stick dana 18 transfer case it does run and drive but needs minor things if you wanted to make it street legal. i bought this for myself and am only selling because i got a great deal on another one and i dont need 2 so it needs to go i have a set of nice rims and tires that are not on it but will go with it . runs and drives, brakes work headlights work has 2 gas tanks with a selector switch. gauges work. would make a great hunting rig or spend some time and fix it up for the street”

(09/15/09) The bottom is CJ-2A and the top is mid 70s mail carrier.
“After about 12 years, way too much money and 1,000’s of hours of sweat, I have completed a rebuild of this CJ2A. Engine Components: new plugs, points & condenser, adjust timing, re-core radiator, rebuild starter, new flywheel, new coil, rebuild generator, new relay, completely rebuild the transmission (all new gears, sync’s and bearings), all new wiring (front to back), new Solex replacement carburetor for the original Carter, new voltage regulator, plug wires, front lights, ignition switch, battery, horn….”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $500 — I love this one.
(08/30/09) What’s this chain drive? There’s no transfercase. I’ve not seen anything like it.
“1947 Willys Jeep. Fold down windshield frame (Has Willys Script) . Has a chain drive set up on transmission. Full time 4 wheel drive. 16″ Wheels. Has custom foolproof brake setup on transmission, instead of on the wheels. Has a rebuilt 1978 Ford 2.3L 4cylander. I dont think it has been fired since rebuild becuase it has no spark. I Believe it needs a new distributer. Has VW radiator with electric fan. Nice swivel bucket seats. Tub is solid. Everything has been reinforced. I bought this from an old master mechanic that did alot of work to it, and then it sat in his garage for many years, without ever being run. No paperwork. DOES NOT RUN! A GREAT PROJECT OR ALOT OF GOOD PARTS!! Needs to be finshed, i have too many other projects. It would be a great hunting rig when running. Better/ Stronger than a fourwheeler, and still small enough to fit on trails. $500 FIRM. No Tire Kickers. Call 882-1505 if intrested”
