Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Got a 1946 willys jeep , the engine has been gone thru the carb has be rebuilt, has new battery the transmission has had the bottom gear shaft and bearings changed and also the intermedite shaft and bearings in the transfer case have been changed, has all new trans and engine rubber mounts ,new belts, new military style tires were put on last year. all new seals and felt pads were installed on the front axle.”

Looks solid, though has some later parts on it.
“This is a Original 1946 willys. New paint, rebuilt motor starts first turn every time been converted to 12 volt redone all wireing. Gone threw both axles and brakes! New tires bought a month ago. New gauges fuel gauge works. And I also have a 1945 willys trailer that I would throw in for 500 original.”

(03/03/2013) “1947 jeep CJ2A. frame up restoration almost complete over $20,000.00 invested. Needs tune up and power steering pump installed. pump is included.
– rebuilt straight 6 cylinder engine
– disc front brakes
– new wrangler front end linkage
– New power steering gear box
– new steering column and linkage from summit racing
– new electric fuel pump
– New upolstered bucket seats
– New windshield wipers
– custom built rear bumper and spare tire carrier

(11/06/2013) Here’s a militarized CJ-2A that would make a good parade jeep.
“This is a 47 Willys CJ2A with a WWII front end added has swivel small headlights and blackout lights.I have over $25,000 rebuilding this jeep.
The engine,transmission,transfer case,rear end were rebuilt two years ago.Has new brake lines and wiring,just tuned up and new starter put in.Painted olive drab this jeep was used by the military.Runs great looks great comes with dummy 30 cal.New WWII tires,new radiator and brakes.
Just had new steel welded into right side,all new steel in back end.Odometer broke unkown mileage probably 8000 on new motor.Always driven on weekends.
I love it it looks cool and all my nieghbors and friends love it but need money. This awesome jeep is parade ready.The paintings were done by hand one is from 1943 comic book Joe Palooka making Hitler dance with a 30 cal.,Vargas girl spelling out victory,Bugs bunny on side with name of jeep Hun Hunter,just painted hitler getting stabbed by bugs on right side. I have a lot of time and money in this jeep,you will not find one that runs this well and in this shape for this money.do not call and try to talk me down on the price it is low enough.”

(03/31/2014) The motor runs.
“46 cj2a has an early 60,s F head runs , was in a barn for 10 years It has some cracked fuel lines to the tank but fired up from a can, tank seems to be fine. Needs front floor work and side body work, prob no for the purist due to the later engine but would make a nice summer driver , has rear PTO setup,”
Not a perfect restoration, but given the rear PTO and drum it looks solid for the price.
“Was restored a few years back, but in good condition still. About 200miles on restoration. Rebuilt motor runs great, New sheet metal except for Grill its original. new wiring, lights, breaks, mechanically sound. Needs new upholstery on seats, but drives great. Its a early model serial# 34000 it is a column shift 3 speed works good. PTO works. Great for the Shore or a Farm, all around solid 46 Willys CJ2A.”

Given this includes the trailer, it might be worth a look.
