About eWillys
Welcome to eWillys.com, a website for vintage jeep enthusiasts. I update this website nearly every day with jeep deals, jeep history, interesting reader projects, jeep related info, and more.
These quick searches can help you find things on eBay. People list in the wrong categories all the time, so don't be surprised to see brochures in the parts area for example. This section used to be split into jeeps, parts and other categories, but recent changes to eBay will require this information to be recoded.
The links to posts below show jeeps grouped by models, condition, and other ways. Some of these jeeps are for sale and others have been sold. If you are unsure whether a vehicle is still for sale or not, email me at d [at] ewillys.com for more info.
Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. So, tread carefully when purchasing a "project". If you have any concerns about buying a vintage jeep, or run across a scam, feel free to contact me for help, comments or concerns .
I also have both front & rear differentials/drive lines & L-134 Engine/Transmission/Transfer Case. This Engine assembly is not original to this 1948 CJ2A, it looks older. There are no markings from willys on the Head. Take a look at my other posting & tell me what it is.
I believe this to be 1941 thru 1944 War Jeep Engine.
Please make offer if interested. two zero eight 7nineone0five1nine”
Well there is value here. But, please, a moment of silence for that poor CJ-2A; it may never have been a real soldier, but it looks like it got blown up just the same.
“I have 2 old willys mj jeeps. And a frame with rears and trans.”
It looks like a parts jeep. Did someone really think that rollbar system would work?
“51 willys with all original running gear but engine. I have a 4.0 inline six and a dana 35 rear with a dana 30 front that go with it. the axels are out of a cherokee and the front needs to be changed to leaf spring setup. i bought this with a bill of sale. I also have a front and rear bumper, front pictured. 2200.00 obo. 662-871-9two one 9.”
This might be a fine little run-about jeep for the price.
“1946 CJ-2a Runs great, everything works like it should. Original Go Devil engine, 6 volt electrical ( I thought about converting it to 12 volt, but it works so well I just didn’t see the point). The odometer shows less than 30,000 miles. I have no idea if this is accurate, but am sure it isn’t rolled over past 100,000 because I don’t think these engines last 100,000. The body looks good from outside and is fine to drive as is, but it is pretty rusted out underneath. My plan for this Jeep was to take it out to Colorado for elk hunting trips so I got it all working good mechanically so I wouldn’t have to worry about that during my hunt. I don’t get to go on hunting trips though so I don’t really need this Jeep so I decided to let someone else take it from here.
It is a blast to drive. Mostly I take my dogs for rides and go to the range in it. Everywhere I go people seem to love it.
I did take it off road one time by an old strip mine and was amazed at how easily this little jeep will go anywhere. I used to have a Cherokee that was lifted with 33 inch tires and this little jeep will go anywhere that thing did.”
The body interior is supposed to be rough, but I’ve seen much worse.
“LOOKING FOR SOMEONE SPECIFICALLY WANTING A 1948. IF YOU’RE JUST WANTING AN OLD FLAT-FENDER, YOU MIGHT AS WELL BUY A NEW BUCKET AND PUT IT ON A MORE MODERN DRIVETRAIN AND FRAME.
THIS JEEP HAS SUFFERED THROUGH ALL ITS YEARS IN THE OREGON RAIN AND USED MOSTLY FOR HUNTING AND SOME RANCH CHORES. THE FLOOR PANS ARE RUSTED THRU AND ANY PLACE THAT HELD WATER CONSISTANTLY.
IT IS FULLY 6V AND IT DID RUN WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN 08…….BUT IT DID NOT STOP! NO BRAKES WHAT-SO-EVER. PREVIOUS OWNER DROVE IT ALL OVER THE HILLS ON COMPRESSION ONLY.
THE WINDSHIELD DID NOT COME FROM THE FACTORY AS THE REST. ITS BEEN SWITCHED TO A ONE-PIECE WHICH IS STILL IN GOOD CONDITION.
THE RADIATOR IS A LITTLE DAMP AT THE BOTTOM BUT DOES NOT SEEM TO LEAK.
WHEELS ARE STOCK WITH OLD BIAS-PLY TIRES THAT STILL HOLD AIR.
I HAVE REMOVED EVERYTHING THAT IS BOLTED ON AND REMOVED THE DASH COMPONENTS AND STEERING WHEEL AND THE BODY IS READY TO LIFT OFF.
REASON FOR SELLING AS I HAVE TOO MANY PROJECTS AND I HAVE ANOTHER 48 THAT I NEED TO GET GOING ON. AGE IS CATCHING UP WITH ME.
HERE ARE COUPLE PIC’S OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE OUTSIDE. THE WHITE TOP IS NO LONGER WITH IT. THE PIC. OF ME IN IT IS WHEN I DROVE IT AROUND THE BLOCK THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. BODY DOESN’T LOOK LIKE ITS EVER BEEN DAMAGE FROM ANY COLLISION OR ROLL-OVER.”
“Off frame restored 1949 Willys CJ2A Jeep. Has tow bar and mechanical winch. Great parade vehicle. Runs great, all original engine and running gear. Painted Olive drab, to look like military version. New Tires and many new parts, seals etc.”
“I purchased it off of Craigslist about a year ago for $2200. Being a poor college student I haven’t had the time or the money to put into completing it and now it looks like I’ll have to sell it.
It’s mostly a basketcase at this point. The frame is SUPER SOLID no holes and I got about halfway through POR15’ing it. The frame on it’s own just is just about worth what I’m asking.
The transmission is an original T90-A1 model and moves freely.
I think the engine is seized but I think it’s only a dip or a diesel bath away from turning. The block is from a GPW (think WW2 Willys). The Water pump is super rusted.
The carb is a solex type aftermarket single barrel. The oil filter is the standard paper canister kind. It has a 12v coil though I’m not sure if the gauges are 12v also (never got that far).
The Gas tank is in OK condition. There was only a very small pin hole and I used POR15 tank sealer to fix that about a year ago.
The body needs welding work. If you’re good with welding and have some scrap sheet metal it would make a good project. the floor (what always ends up going) is completely missing. There are no original seats.
The axles look solid and move freely. The drum brakes may need to be cleaned but I’ve been told by the PO that they are good.
The windshield folds nicely when installed. The glass is not correct and is something of a hack job sealed in. It would most likely work while driving.
It needs a new steering system. Some PO put a power steering system in and it has since completely gone.
What it has:
Complete hood, grille, lamps, pumps, carb, wheels, frame, brakes, tailgate, pretty much everything you see.
New radiator
most of the aftermarket soft top bow system.
ugly aftermarket roll bar
mild 2-3″ shackle lift with oversize tires.
12v ignition coil
I’m also including:
a front bumper from a wrangler as a replacement for the bent up one that came with it.
Chilton’s service manual for CJs.
Obviously, this isn’t drivable so it will need to be flat towed. E-Mail me if you’re interested.”
