(10/27/2009) This jeep sports a Volvo engine, which is certainly unusual. This has been available since last July (when it was priced at $10k).

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2900
(05/17/2010) This still needs work.
“1948 Willys Jeep runs and drives great. Most of the underneath has been redone and is new including springs, shocks, tie rods, etc. at a cost of about $2500. The body has been rhino lined inside and out and does not look bad with no rust. Problem with the rhino lining is they also did the dash and other areas that probably should not have been done and although very well protected it would look better if it had not been done.
The transmission and drive train I am pretty sure are original.
One of the amazing parts of the Willys is the engine which has been replaced with Ford 5.0L, 302ci with a Carter ASM 750 CFM Carburetor. The block shows it is a 69-73 before they were detuned and compression lowered when a muscle car was still a muscle car. Yes it runs excellent and will easily smoke all four tires if you want.
Things left to do are some electrical, gauges etc. which are all good just need to be hooked up (not hard and I may do that before it is sold). Also still has more play in the wheel than I want which is coming from the steering gear box since everything else has pretty much been replaced.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1900.
(12/12/2010) Here’s a CJ-2A worth a closer look. The windshield also looks a little unusual. Based on the pics at the bottom, I’d guess this was an aftermarket extension (rather than a custom job).
“1946 Willys cj2a Jeep. This Jeep starts runs and can be driven. It is in very good shape for 64 years old. It has a PTO driven winch mounted on the front bumper. The seats have been recovered. it has new fuel lines and a new 6 volt battery. The Jeep has a leak in the brake system.
The jeep came from a cabin in northern Arizona town. It also has some 1950s modifications, that extends the rearend for extra storage. This jeep has a valid Arizona Title and is priced for a quick sale this weekend.”
There looks like some value here.
