A reader named Terry alerted me to this sale.
“1946 Willys CJ2A Jeep Serial Number 56566
I am selling this Jeep because I am ill with a progressing brain disease and there is more work to be done on this Jeep than I expected. Transmission is inoperable, locked in neutral, and needs replacement or rebuilding. Steering gear needs work. Engine is perfection, runs like a dream. I originally purchased it with the idea that it would take the place of my Ural, so I could continue going out sight-seeing and exploring. … The Jeep’s original flathead, four-cylinder engine (engine #103462) has less than 300 miles on it since being completely rebuilt.”
This might be a pretty good price for only $1000 given the work that has been done.

There are a ton of updates to this Jeep.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $24,950.
It looks nice enough, but I just don’t think the seller makes a strong argument for the rather high asking price.
“1946 Jeep CJ2A that has had a complete body-off restoration. Many items have been chromed and a new set of chrome wheels and tires. The engine is original and has been completely gone through. The Jeep hasn’t gone more that 50 miles since being restored. Custom seats have been added and many other accessories.”
The seller is in the rockies somewhere ….
“I have for sale a 1948 Willys Jeep that I have owned for some time. I no longer have time to restore it and am looking to sell it to a good home. The motor is newly rebuilt and has only a few miles on the rebuilt motor. I have an extra block, head and two crank shafts to go with it as well as lots of extra parts. This looks nice. It’s got some nice upgrades.
“48 Willys CJ-2a in beautiful condition. Buick 3.7 V6 with 4-barrel carb, original twin stick T-case and 3-speed transmission, power steering, heater, full cage with nice paint. Nice new top and 31″ tires, bikini top as well. One of the nicer flattys you’ll see around and gets lots of compliments. Moving to Utah and can’t bring it with. Runs perfect.”
