Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Here’s a rough CJ-2A out of Michigan. Not many pics.
“This 1948 Willy was bought by my husband 25 years ago as a project. He bought all the parts so he could build it to his ideal, then he got sick and now can’t work on it. It has been in the garage all these years. He has new leaf springs, a 68 v6 cj motor( I think I got that right) it ran when he put it up years ago, another frame and much more. There is a little rust not much. If there is any other questions please contact me.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2500.
“1947 Willys Jeep. Needs brake work. 4×4 works well. No top. New fuel pump, plugs, wires, etc.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $10,000
This is certainly a beautiful CJ-2A. However, it’s not fully restored to original condition. One of the obvious issues is the CJ-3A windshield it sports.
“Fully restored to original except for 12 Volt vice original 6 Volt system. $10,000 OBO. The Willys CJ2A was the first mass-produced Jeep intended for the civilian market, began production on July 17, 1945. Civilian Jeeps evolved from the model MB of World War Two fame.”

This is a nice looking jeep ready for the trail with a variety of updates.

This ’46 sports a variety of upgrades. It looks nice. Strangely, the front parking lights have been eliminated.

I suspect this also has some update running gear as well based on the amount the tires stick outside the body lines.
“1949 Willys CJ2A Jeep Trade Buick 231 V6, 3 speed trans with Warn Overdrive, comes with Best Top soft top, runs great, has collector plates, this thing is a blast in the summertime! $5000 firm or poss trade for 4×4 quad, or maybe something else.”
This CJ has a serial number of 75375.
“Jeep and trailer have been in the same family since at least 1956. Before that they are believed to have been the property of Denver Tramway Corporation. Except for periodic use they have been stored inside in an unheated garage in western Colorado, a very low humidity climate. Consequently both have very little rust. The Jeep hasn’t run for about 5 years because we tried to put a new gas tank in. Because of our mechanical ineptitude we couldn’t reconnect the fuel line from the tank to the engine block. Then we lost interest in the project. The original tank is still available if buyer wants it. In about 2000, before the fuel tank episode, we took the jeep in to get new belts, hoses, and battery. We put about 50 miles on it before we dicided to replace the fuel tank, which we did because the gas gauge wasn’t reading properly…..”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4800.
“This is a really cool Willys! If you like theme vehicles, this is set up as a civil defense vehicle. Popular back in the sixties. It appears to be all original engine, drivetrain etc. Starts right up and runs good and shifts like it should through the gears. It has like new tires, beauty rims, new battery and ignition switch, new shocks, a really nice tow bar for flat towing and it has lockout hubs so you don’t need to bring a trailer! All lights and turn signals work, including the red flashing emergency light on the fender. It has an ammo box between the seats where a radiation detector is stored. I don’t know if it works or not….”

(06/25/09) This is a nice looking, mostly restored (though not to an original state) CJ-2A.
“This Jeep Willys is titled as a 1941 Jeep however the Vin# indicates that it is more likely a 1945-1946 model.Mileage showing 5426”
